Feeling Better

Dexter here!

Relentlessly Huge and Momma have been doing a lot of research on raw diets and momma was very close to giving it a try until she read the page on how much to feed your dog.

It said 2-3% of body weight. And she said whoa! That's 5-7 pounds / day just for the Relentlessly Huge.

No way! Oh well... Relentlessly Huge was kind of bummed out.

Today in the mail we got a catalog with a Bolo dog on the cover.

Relentlessly Huge never got anything from this catalog because nothing comes in dinosaur sizes which is just as well because its full of all kinds of foofy outfits and stuff, but momma is eyeing it more closely now that I'm here. I think I will eat that catalog when she isn't looking because I don't want to have to play dress up. Aren't I handsome enough the way I am?

After dinner, Master went out to water the garden. Now typically I help water the garden, but I haven't been allowed to since I got my boo-boo leg, so I have to just watch.

Please can I help? My leg doesn't hurt at all and I have been soooo good resting and not playing bitey face and I am getting cabin fever. So Master said, OK, let's see how you do. Oh boy!!! See? I'm fine.Besides, I can have fun without running around. Just bring on the water.Mmmm... soaking wet. Now I feel like myself again.I demonstrated for Momma and Master how I can play with my kong without hurting my back legs. Just keep them both in the air!Oooo la la! Check out my next door neighbor dog, Maggie! She is such a tease. Relentlessly Huge has a total crush on her. He howls and moans whenever she is around and she teases him, saying, "oh Mango, I want to play with you." But a couple of times she did come over for a date and then she was all "get away from me you huge beast." So now he just has to admire her from afar.Seeing her makes him go a little cracker dog. Get up, get up! Have you no shame? In conclusion, I have not limped at all for many days because I am cured! Thanks to all the nursing that Hector did with Lacie's help.

Dexter done!

I made the cover! I made the cover! I mean, good to see you're feeling better Dexter. Mango, it's probably best if you don't wear the frou-free stuff. A nice Harley Davidson jacket maybe.

Dexter, you are turning into quite the handsome and almost large boy! No offense to Oscar, but maybe you deserve one for your recent leg "injury."

2-3% is sort of high. My Momma has done more like 2% or even less sometimes, and that includes the ground up veggies, which are pretty heavy. 3% is really mainly from growing puppies or really active working dogs. Even if Mango is using all his energy to make his brain cells work, meditating doesn't burn *that* many calories.

And what comes out the other end is quite a nice change.

(But seriously? Our freezer is mostly full of my food. My humans use the fridgey part, I get the freezer.)

Dex! So glad your boo boo leg is more like woo hoo leg now. That's a relief. You look like you are growing so much, until you stand next to Mango man. Woosh, that dude is relentlessly large. I would be madly in love with him if I met him in real life. You too maybe, even though you're still a puppy.

Advice for the day: Resign yourself to nudity. I did years ago and have not regretted it for a moment. If she wants to play dress up, she can get that damn Greyhound.

Yikes, I'd barely get a bite if I only got to eat 2% of 25 pounds. Mommy's not that great a cook. I mean, I like cat poop and I turned up my nose at some rice she made me once when I had the trots. Guess I'm stuck with the stuff from the pet store.

Your pal,

Hmm maybe your mom could just throw you some raw food once in awhile? Help keep the teethies clean and you would still get some goodness. Tell her to look for frozen whole sardines and feed you those. I am having them for dinner.
Glad your leg is feeling better.

Willow the Black Dale said... happy to see you and your Kongo are behaving. You wouldn't fake I just know you wouldn't.
I wonder if Bolo got his own magazine? He sure looks good! We didn't get that in our mail. Good thing!!!
Happy days fellas! Smooches to you both!!

Hey, Dex, so glad you can run and get wet again! That's the best in all this heat anyway. My dalmatian sissie would LUV you, Mango, I'm sure she would. And she doesn't have a boydogfriend at the moment neither.

love & wags,

Well that is A LOT of raw foods for a doggie, instead maybe your momma could give you just a couple of raw things instead of going full on? I get raw chicken necks and other raw stuff as treats and mmm therye good! Bolo is indeed a cutie!

Mango I would never tease you like Maggie. You should ignore her and then she would be begging for your attention.

Dexter I am glad your leggie is feeling better and you were able to have fun in the water!

Glad to hear you are feeling better Dexter! I was really worried about you!

Also about raw.. don't give up so quick, that number is quite high. From what I have been told, they basically eat about 1-3 pounds a day (dog Mango's size) and some days wont eat anything as the food stays with them longer. is a good source of information on Raw feeding. How could you not feel better if you were just faking.
Poor Mango. That Maggie needs to pay more attention to him.

We're really glad your leggie is better, Dexter! We have some pawsome nurses on the DWB! Lacie can do wonders with that blender of hers! Our mom checked into putting us on raw food, but she said she would have to win the lottery to be able to pay for all of it. She tried some raw beef ribs, one time, but Penny swallowed one whole and I worked on mine for so long that my teefies were sore for several days. Guess we'll stick with the green beans, pumpkin and the occasional marrow bone.

we are glad your leg is feeling better. 5-7 lbs a day is like eating a chiahuahuahuahua everyday! Sorry you missed out on the raw diet, but at least you got to play in the water.

Your boo boo leg looks all better. Maybe you can help in the garden again.
That is a ton of food. Poor Mango.
