Dexter Day - Agility and Still Hot

It remains super hot and humid here in Master Chew Sits and I have relinquished the cool spot to the Relentlessly Huge (see him back there). He really hates the heat and didn't poop for three whole days which made momma quite frantic, but eventually she was able to find some deposits to pursue her archaeological endeavors with.

So nothing left for me to do but keep an eye on Momma and await some sign of action.

Even just walking around the yard is kind of uncomfortable.

I like to go up to my Observation Tower to keep watch for any visitors. I think I see somebody!

Hey! It's Jarrod! Haven't seen him in a while.

Jarrod helped Master a lot with the barn rebuilding and now he is back to do some more finishing touches.

RH consulted with him about possibly repairing the damage done to the patio and stairs by Evil Rick.

I told him not to bother. It's good to see the big guy use his brain to figure out how to get on and off the deck. Hee hee.

But before I knew it, the Mastiff friendly stairs had returned and Mango was quite relieved when I show him that he could now go safely down.

And more importantly, up, without concern about force fields.

Today was really exciting because Master came to agilities with us!

I did my usual warm up exercises before school with Taj.

Then, time for agilities and Master took movies!!!

Momma says that we still need a lot of work figuring out where to go next, but the first couple of runs weren't really very hard.

OMG! Did you see momma's socks????

There was a very noisy doggie working on obedience in the other ring and the teacher in the other ring was very LOUD! The next set was much harder because it involved something NOT the A-frame and momma and I suffered a bit of communication breakdown.

Then we did some more tricky stuff and I was starting to get tired a little bit. Even though Momma has her treat bag, I don't use treats except for the weave poles and, well, that one time with the whole tunnel v. a-frame mix-up. I do agilities because it feels good!

My teacher Mike wanted me to do the scary tunnel with the flap on my last run, but I had never been through it before, so I opted out.

Back at the estate and feeling quite proud of myself.

Dexter done!

Three cheers, PeeWee, you make it look like fun and games!

If you ever get all your ducks in a row, your Mom may like it better, but I doubt you will ever have more fun than you do right now!

Dexter, I love the way you survey your AgiliKingdom from the top of the A-Frame. Just please don't teach Marge that.. she's crazy enough on the contact obstacles as it is. :D

I'm glad you got the stairs fixed so RHM isn't stopped by the force field any longer. Dexter, you sure can scamper up that A-Frame, it looks like it's your fave! I hope you stay cool....drink lots of ice'd beverages, preferalby with umbrellas in 'em!

Dexter, it's your buddy TD talking to you, hope you are listening. You have to stop showing those agility videos. The Momster keeps talking about wanting me to do that, no way, Jose. You do make it look like fun, but I just don't see the point.

Dexter, you really love the A Frame, don't you? I have seen several dogs obsessed with the A Frame... Why do you all love the obstacle so much?

Dexter, I know it's your day today but guess what? We met a 4-month old giant Mastiff puppy girl today on our walk! She was fawn colored and SOOOO cute and she hasn't begun drool production yet. (We asked.) Her name was Honeybun and she was adorable. Of course, she already weighed about two of me!

Your pal,

Heehee! You look like you had fun in those tunnels! And on that A-frame thing. I don't think I could do any of that stuff (have I mentioned that I'm easily distracted?), but it looks like fun!

And very nice of you to relinquish the Cool Spot to the RH.

Wow Dexter! You really do rock that A-frame! I had to wonder if you would have done the tunnel (either of them) if they put it on the A-frame!
Nice job handsome boy. Very nice of you to relinquish the cool spot to RH. Ya know he has been on here talkin trash about you for hogging the cool spot...

So glad the stairs are back in place for the Mango Man! Maybe he will feel more at ease now that he has his higher lookout back.

So glad you have fun with your agilities. Maybe it will get some of your antsies out so you will quit picking on your big brother! OC

OH, by the way, Mom is praying that things go ok where you are when that hurricane weather goes through... At least it should cool things down a bit maybe? OC

Dexter, you did so good. You must be very proud of yourself. All I can do is sit and shake paw and come sometimes. That was hard work, I hope there was a reward waiting at home. I am glad you let Mango have the cool spot, he does kind of need the extra cooling off. Dexter, umm, maybe you could take Mommies socks and give them a proper burial someplace? I am glad Mango made poopies, I bet he gets cranky when he can't go, I know I do.

licks and sniffs, Sasha

We are very impressed by your agility work - of course we would be hopeless at that and frankly get tired just watching!
We do so hope it cool down for you - we thought you were very kind to let Mango have the cool spot!!

Mango, dear fur/fruit-friend:) !!!!

Please would you do me a favour and put on your 'sense of humour' hat for a moment as you tolerate our digs.
We would like to bring you up-to-date 'Mango' news from South Africa. Indeed we tried to reply to your email, but it failed.(please also remember...we are just having a bit of fun with you. We know you are a really cool dog and we thought you might enjoy this)......

...........................

Thank you so much for that link you told us about regarding the origins of your name. I like to find out about my friends and it seems that you have been named after a rather 'fruity' sort of character (hiccup, he-he). It makes sense though,
In terms of that link you "should be universally appealing". Yep, that is indeed so.

Anyway, its a sunday afternoon here and we are in a humourous mood! So we've done a little bit of research for you from this end of the world.

The 'Mango' in SOUTH AFRICA is one of our 'finest' fruits - (third largest crop here ) - so in this domain, YOU are probably also up there with the medals!!!
We were also very interested to read about all 'your' known pests as I am sure you will be too.
Please oblige us:....

Pest 1: The fruit fly (which follows you around everywhere - and reminds me a bit of your mate, Dexter.)
Pest 2: The Mango-weavil (which apparently you suffer from during transportation)
Pest 3: The Coconut bug (which apparently causes fruit drop...not sure if you suffer from that?)
Pest 4: Armoured or soft-scale insects (which cause leaf drop?)
Pest 5: The Gall fly (you may draw your own conclusions)
Pest 6: The Mealy bug (which makes the mango unsightly...poor boy!)

Another thing which impressed me during my research was your far-reaching name. We have an airline in this country...'MANGO AIRLINES'. It is a small domestic airline aimed at the low-cost market....a little below your league, don't you think? Indeed, your massive self might not even be able to fit on any of their planes - they are sooo small!

Anyway, here's hoping that you are having a fantastic weekend. We were so disappointed not to be able to watch the Pee-wee video. We've given up watching video's on the internet. Our connection is just too expensive, so apologies. nevertheless, we got a good idea from all the comments on the comments page....it was like a running commentary.

take care and lots of licks

Well Dexter. You do look like you having fun, but your teacher is not very tough on you huh?

I just spent all day yesterday at a really big agility show and didn't even get to have a go cos Mum was helping out. I watched about 200 dogs run the course we were stationed at so I think I has some advices for you. Also, you very like me in your enthusiasm (but mine be with tunnels) so even though you probably know this, I hope it helps.

I think your Momma shoulda positioned herself on your other side so as to block off the A-Frame. It mighta helped if she said tunnel whilst you were over the jump so your mind went right to it instead of getting fixed on the A-Frame. I saw a lot of people would stop their dog and make them start again when they went wrong insteada letting them do the thing they liked.

Dexter, you're a star on the jump, A-Frame, A-Frame, jump. And I'm really happy the force field is down so RH can relax again (and go off his poop strike so Mom doesn't have to worry) :)

Hey Dexter! Thanks for the proof that you actually work at agilities instead of playing all the time . . .

I think you did good. You gave your human WAY more attention than I would have given my human if she didn't have a treat in hand. Also I applaud your bravery! Those A-Frames are TALL and it's your favorite obstacle! Very brave.

I love how you went all cracker dog and kept going back to the pause table. You should tell your Mom to get off your back. It's her fault for making you go to it so many times!! Your brain malfunctioned! You couldn't go another way if you tried!

Anyway, I'm with you on this whole agilities thing. You did great. Moms are just too picky. Keep having fun!

That's some pretty cool freestyle agilities! Maybe you should have made your Momma go through that tunnel first to show you how it's done.

Are you also working on your therapy (or terrorpy) dog degree too? Because I noticed how you were so focused on the A-frame you never noticed the Scary Wheelie Man all over the place! Also, good job ignoring your Momma's socks. Did RH dress her in the morning? At least she didn't have them pulled all the way up to her knees.

PeeEss: That's a really pretty sit in the last picture. You sure are an energetic one.
