Dexter Day - Sad News, Good News and Walkie Highlights

My little friend in New Zealand, Cookie, crossed over the Rainbow Bridge. He will be missed.

Our hearts are heavy.

We also got some good news in that Tommy's sister, Tama-Chan had her kittens. They are very little and Tama-Chan is still not feeling well, so they could use a visit.

To cheer myself up, I thought a nice walkie was just the ticket.

The holiday soldiers are out on our village green. Wouldn't this make a great DWB card exchange picture? Too bad certain Relentlessly Huge Beasties would FREAK if they ever saw this guy in person (not do a nice sit / stay like me). Oh well.

We had a super walkie! Momma set a nice brisk pace and I showed off my best good dog attentions and we were so busy that we hardly had time for photos.

I found a beer can on a bench and was supposed to pose with it, but I don't want any doggies getting ideas that I would drink this stuff. I am a Sam Adams kind of guy.

My attentions flagged when I noticed that the local merchants had their doors open.

The ladies in the beauty salon usually wave to me, but I am not allowed to go inside.

I was certain this was a dog store given the array of stuffies, but momma pulled on my tether and told me that it was really some fancy pants boutique that did not want any doggies inside (well then why is the door open with all those toys on the floor).

The ice cream parlor is still open for business (weather permitting). Once again, no dogs allowed (such a cold hearted place I live), but I was able to find some crumbs and dribbles on their picnic tables.

Back home and working on my muscle dog pose. What do you think ladies?

When we were driving home from agilities this morning, Momma said we had to make a stop. Fine. I was kind of tired anyway.

But then she shoved a tree into the back of the car!

Do I look happy about it?

I was squished the whole way home. Like trying to ride with the RH back there. What was she thinking?

Dexter done!

P.S. Here is a movie that has no dogs in it (well, one brief appearance at the end) but it is so happy making that I wanted to post it.

Oh Dexter! You are so very sweet to mention me and my kittens! Thank you! I am beginning to feel so much better!

Tree in car... it's that time of year again?! asks Tommy...

Hey PeeWee! Excellent post! Newsy and interesting, you seem pretty happy about things (right up to the tree part) and it was fun to read.

Thanks for the Where's Matt, too. There is a fun guy to watch.

We think Mango Man would look just about the right size next to that big guy. Tell him to dress out and show up.

Dex - we're so sorry about your friend :(

I'm glad Momma took you on a great adventure to cheer you up. LOVE the picture of you sharing your space with the Christmas Tree. What the heck? Humans are so silly.

Biggie-Z said...

Nice update, Dexter! I don't know about the tree thing in the car, though. Don't your humans know the tree goes on TOP of the car? You should have peed on it to show them who OWNS the back.

Dear Dexter, your Momma is going to put that tree right in the middle of your house. Then you will not even be allowed to use the tree for nature's intended function for trees near dogs, if you get my meaning. It's this "Christmas" thing, where they put dead trees in the house and eat candy out of socks. Consider yourself warned.

And, dude, my Momma tried to stop the snow, but it's on the way to you. Sorry!

You're looking very handsome there (wink wink).

Dude, you had a tree right next to you and you didn't pee on it?!? Sigh... you're such a good boy!

Hope you got some treats when you got home; after all, you showed such great control on your ride home.

You should have peed in that tree right there is the Dexter mobile. I can't think of any other reason why she would have stuck it back there except for you to pee on.

Sophie Brador said...

Also, you should probably stay away from my blog right now because I think you might fall in love.

Randi said...

Hi My Little Cublet - Yes, I agree with Sophia La Bador...that tree is in the car for you to pee on...

& if your mamma moves it into the house, that means you can pee on it in the house as well..

& I agree with Sophie too, that if you go to her bloggy, you will fall in love ....beautiful pics of my diva BFF in Canada...

Dexter Buddy! You shouldda peed on that tree! They don't call you little squirt for nothing right! When in doubt pee on it that is my philosophy! Glad you had good walkies. You were very brave to get close to that giant monster and I am not talkin' bout RH!

Mom knows what it is like to lose a loved one near Christmas. Very sad. We will have to go visit Cookies family. Thanks for letting us know.

And have you ever seen the Sam Adams brewery in person??? If you have I am soooooo jealous!!

And that guy sure does love to dance!

Hi Dexter,

I'm sorry to hear about the news of your friend Cookie passing. I didn't know him but I sent his mom my condolences. It's so sad when one of us crosses over the bridge.

But on a happier note...I just love your muscle picture shot of you showing off your stuff....if I was only a few years younger....Ah ROOOO!!! Wait don't tell Mango I said that, he'd be jealous.

Another sad day in blogger world. So sorry about your friend Cookie.

We have to get over to see Tama-Chan as we have been waiting all week for the big news.

It is a good thing RH wasn't in the car along with that tree - who knows what would have happened?

Sorry about your friend Cookie-always sad when a friend moves on

All good suggestions to pee on that tree but I'm thinkin' a more solid retort would definitely give your 2 leggers sumpthin' to stink about!

Looks like you had a great walk even if people wouldn't let you in their stores. How silly of them! Did you lift you leg on that tree in your car? I know that Ambrose would have if we put a tree in ours!

Your friend,

Hope you can make peace with the tree you had to share space with - our peeps have some weird ideas, eh? I love that movie! I saw it a while back and it is definitely happy-making! Thanks for sharing Dexter!

Hi Dexter, we were so very sorry to hear about your Cookie going to Rainbow Bridge - his family and friends will miss him.
We enjoyed your walk and agree it was just the thing to cheer you up.
How lovely you looked beside that nice holiday soldier - we have never seen them before.
The pic would have made a great xmas card.
We really cannot understand places that dont let dogs in - some humans have their priorities all wrong.
Well just you boycott that beauty salon and boutique!
Take your custom elsewhere Dexter.
You did look particularly handsome posing on the decking - both Bailey and I commented on it.
love and kisses

Woof! I'm sorry about Cookie. Horay for Tommy's sister. Mmmmm Yes why is it that most establishment does not welcome dogs especially the good looking one. You were so kind with the X-mas tree. Watched the video ... almost missed the dog. Lots of Golden Woofs, Sugar

Hello Dexter, we are sorry to read about your friend going to the RB.

We did enjoy the video though, certainly made us feel very happy.

You did look bit squished next to the tree, but isn't it thoughtful of the hoomans to bring trees indoors when it gets cold..... saves us going out and freezing!

I know how you feel about your mom shoving stuff into the back of the car with you. My mom does that all the time! She's even had chickens and goats in the back with me. Unfortunately I couldn't get at them through the dog taxi they are in. Sigh.

Joe Stains said...

omdog a tree IN your car, that means you can pee on it I think?? that soldier guy is pretty official looking so I could see why Mango would have to get upset with him. Us tough dogs often have problems with authority.
