Dexter Daycare Day

Today marks the last day of Momma's vacation. She has been home with us for twelve whole days and it has been fantastic. The success of her vacation is mostly thanks to me.

You see, prior to starting her vacation, Momma made a list of all the things she wanted to accomplish.

Eat healthy
Clean basement
Make strategic purchases
Work on dog's manners
De-clutter kitchen and bathroom cabinets
Empty, fumigate, and rearrange dog cave
Teach dogs new tricks

BORING! So while she was otherwise occupied, I craftily snuck on to the computer and modified the list to something more befitting an extended stay home.

Eat healthy
Eat whatever you jolly well feel like and be sure to share with dogs
Clean basement
Read and watch MI-5 Season 5 on DVD (while Dexter and Mango enjoy chewies)
Make strategic purchases
Shop online sales with great abandon (don't forget the dog stores)
Work on dog's manners
Play tennis ball (weather permitting)
Walkies (weather inconsequential)
De-clutter kitchen and bathroom cabinets
Wrestle on living room floor with doggies
Empty, fumigate, and rearrange dog cave
Use dog cave exclusively for blogging, shopping, and snuggling with Mango
Teach dogs new tricks
Nap (but only when dogs are napping, otherwise choose from activities above)
Get Dexter a puppy

I am happy to report that Momma accomplished (almost) all of the things on the revised list (yeah, I suppose the puppy was kind of a long shot) and NONE of the boring things on her original list. I consider that a job well done.

After my tutoring I passed the daycare entrance exam with flying colors and I've been going one day every week (I would go more often, but Momma says that the Relentlessly Huge gets quite despondent when I am gone).

This week, it was very very cold and so we had daycare inside and only went out to do our business.

So here I am with all my pals having fun (that's me in the middle of the pack - note that no doggie is humping me).

That's spray bottle lady walking around. She likes to shoot water at doggies who misbehave.

Of course I think a shot of water in the face is one of life's great joys.

Come on, lady, shoot me, I've been a bad bad doggie. Hehehe.

The inside playground has a nice view of the outside for any dogs who are so inclined.

Some doggies were afraid of this pretty girl because she is big and sloppy. Not me! You call that dog big? Please!

Daycare is not all fun and games. We have our own exercise instructor who makes sure we practice our doga so as not to pull any muscles.

You can see that the big dog hasn't moved a whisker.

Kind of reminds me of how somebody else "plays."

This is a hairy flat dog called a Bore Soy. Kind of like a furry Bunny.

You don't see too many of them. He runs really fast!

The yellow dog with the fluffy tail is Honey. She lives with a lady that works with my momma. She is part hound dog and prone to sleepiness. In fact she was in the nap room most of the afternoon, but she got out of bed for one last romp.

I am sniffing her bum. Why not?

Hey! Louie, Gus, and Callie! Look at me! I am herding the yellow dogs.

Get along little doggies!

There's spray bottle lady again. We all usually go over to check her out when she comes in because she tells us when our moms and dads are ready to pick us up.

Super googly eyed action. Bet you can't tell which doggie is me.

Oh! Hey! Momma!

I didn't even see you over there.

Is it time to go home already?

Dexter done!

Ooh, Dexter, my human had a holiday list like that - fortunately I was able to eat it before she got on to clearing out the spare room, so the pile of clean washing is still on the couch in there.

That means I can just nip in and grab a sock whenever I feel like a snack.

Oh looks like you helped your mom a LOT! That must have made it such a great holiday. And daycare looks like fun!

Hey Dex
That was a really cute last photo. Nice work herding them yellows. Where were the humping photos? Is that a squirtable offense? Does your camp limit dog#? Ours limits to 21 but at times went to 28 and they shuttle us b/n two area.

Hi Dexter,

I like the way you amend the list... nice. Thanks for showing us the doggie day-care place and the water-gun lady. The place seems fun with so many fur friends.

Dex, congrats! now you too can become a 'camp rogue dog' just like my cuzin Norwood! your bloggie needs a squirt counter.. inquiring minds want to know!

better stay in the dog cave today- the blustery wind will take your %$$# off. oh, forgot about the tutoring. well tell mango.

Gus said...

Hey...doggie day care looks like fun. Except maybe for the squirt bottle lady. Looks like you have lots of nice friends. And you did great work editing and revising that silly list your Mom made. You inspire me to see if I can change some behaviours myself.

Ha we thought that Bore Soy in the first picture was a llama! She's purty big too.

We're glad you like day care but you must'nt leave the RH for very long. We don't want him getting sad.

Nice job of editing mom's list. Yours is soooo much more "benificial" .
Hey buddy, you surely do stand out in a crowd. I'm just sayin'.

Hey Dex' (and the Minster Mango!)
Well it sure seems that you are gonna enter the 'herding' category. Me, myself am most confused, since Im not sure which category I really fit into?? (Also, Is there a 'king' category for Toffee??)
Don't worry though - we'll work it out when my Momma gets her head together.
In the meantime, we are really glad to see that you guys survived Christmas.
(PS. What about a 'crackermomma' category?hehehe!!)

Dexter, it was so much fun reading about your day care! Our momma looked at a lot of those doggies and fell in ♥ with a lot of them. So many dogs - so little time, she always says that cuz she'd love to have more and more and more but she knows - one day it will be the Rainbow Bridge for her, too☺

Get Dexter a puppy??
Oh my, looks like there are others like my mom.

But still I think your mom did all the important things.

And the daycare looks fun...but a little scary!

Stella, Gunther & Betty said...

Yeah Dex, dad was home for like 2 weeks but he mostly played video games shared his Doritos with us.

Your day care sure has a lot of other dogs! How does the squirt bottle lady keep track of everyone? I bet after a long day she's got an itchy trigger finger..

Laura, Lance, and Vito said...

Oh Dexter! Glad to hear the novelty wore off and you're no longer mister humpable!

I should have had a doggie daycare instead of teaching first grade for 27 years...we weren't allowed to use spray bottles on the kids-chuckle!!!
Great photos of day care!!!

Dexter and RH look sugar glazed in the header!

Isn't daycare great? I am also glad you helped your mom revise her list. So much better

Gracie =^o.o^= said...

I definately liked your to do list a lot better than your moms. I bet you sure are going to miss her when she heads back to work. She will have to give you lots of attention when she gets back to home.
I know for sure that I don't like the spray bottle lady. Why on earth would anyone spray you sweet doggies is beyond me.
Your daycare looks scary to me. You are one bunch of big doggies. I would be afraid I would get stamped on if I were there.

dewdana said...

OMD I had the same list so that sort of explains it... somedoggie changed it and I was just strictly adhering to the list and can't be blamed for my slovenly lifestyle over the past week and a half. I am in total denial about returning to work tomorrow :-(
Day care looks like fun. Does squirt bottle lady squirt whoever tries to hump you? I can't imagine YOU would ever get squirted. Looks super fun and Moose is jealous!

Hi, Dexter!
Good job with your mom's list! Holidays are to enjoy them... not to suffer them!
Glad she accomplished them! Almost...
I can see how much you like to be there with your friends!

Dexter, looks like Doggy camp agrees with you! The doggy camp places here wont allow me to join in the fun becuase I am a bully breed, huh what ever that means.

That looks so exciting! I wish I could go, but then I don't know who would protect our home from the annoying mechanical rodents or entertain Lilac and Blueberry.

Mom says that one day, we will have a Borzoi here!

I love that last picture of you!

Gee Dexter - where were you when our humans made their things to do list, whch was a lot like your mom's original list? We tried to distract them -- and make changes -- but mom had the only pencil that JH hadn't chewed to pieces... so it is what it is.

We did see: find new dog park and play more often with the dogs -- but it could have been so much better.

Love your doggie daycare. Does that squirt bottle lady really scare anyone??

Hi Dexter - aren't humans odd eh? Still, we were glad to read your post as we realise we're not alone... Our human also had a list like that but thenn she went and got something called 'flew' - can't understand why it's called that as there was no taking to the air involved at all, she simply took up all the room on our sofa under a duvet - humph! Still, it meant she did none of the things she had listed - ha!

Your doggie daycare looks wonderful. There is nothing like this available near us - our pals' owners moan about the lack of daycare for doggies quite frequently as few of them have room for the amount of doggies they would REALLY like to house....!

Hiya Dexter! You're so lucky you get to go to daycare. We're kinda sorta banned from there...something about being unfriendly.

Hi Dexter,
I love Doggie day care. Isn't it fun! Where I go, there are big doggies, like you, in one area;and, little doggies, like me, in one area. Oh boy, I can run all day long. I think if I saw your big brother, I would be taken aback. Not scard, but a little weary. I have a puppy, I could send you;but, you must let her be there for a while, and then send her to someone else. Let me know. . .

Oh, I would love to enter your dog show. Could my Mommy be a terrier judge? She has experience handling doggies in showing. I won a best of breed with her once. Also, my Mommy said she would love to donate an award, as there is a amazing dog bakery in Atlanta. And, I would to find a doggie outfit for doggies.

Too bad the Mom has to go back to work. Our Dad isn't too happy about his upcoming week either, but Mom says she will be glad to get back to normal, whatever that is. Your doggy daycare looks like a lot of fun - lots of dogs there, and big ones too. Where do they hide all the little ones? Have lots of fun there. Can't Mango go too?

I like your list Much Better than your Mom's list (hers sounded So Boring!)! Sorry about the puppy thing. But if you want to come visit in about a month, I'm going to have a little sister who is going to need a little edjumacting from bigger, wiser dogs (I'd invite the RH, but I'm afraid he might squash the wee mite). Your daycare thing looks pretty cool - and it looks like you could have lots of cool friends there. That 'Bore Soy' is pretty! (Although I think soy is generally pretty boring...).

Happy New Year, and sorry that your Mom has to go back to work!

Cool shots from daycare. That looks like a lot of fun!

Isn't doggy day care so worth the tutoring? I would love to play with your big girl. And I thought your Bore Soy was an anorexic kuvasz! teehee!

I played with a black lab mix named Blazer on Saturday. You black labradudes sure can bounce around!

Your Momma's list looks a lot like mine. I've been bugging her for a puppy too but so far she is holding firm. GRRR.

Happy new year!

We would like a place like that to go to once in awhile. You looked like you had a great time. Glad that DOH got almost all of her revised list done. That first list was not even workable. Thank dogness you were able to save her from herself.

Our hu-dad says everyday at Chez Herd is like a Doggie Day Care, so we don't get to go to one. Looks like fun.

Oh I think your list was much better and more ambitious. And my ape has accomplished many of those same things. And I am also most impressed with how well you get along with all of those blonds in your day care and that big girl is awfully pretty.

We went and found that book you recommended and the corgador was on the pages available in Google Books and I read about it but what does he mean the HAUGHTY ARROGANCE OF A CORGI! Also I don't like everyone like a lab; I tolerate people other than my ape. I will be most interested to hear how Tube saves the day at the end of the book and makes everything ok.

Your revised list is definitely a better one and I really like your doggie day school. You are certainly a furry well socialized pup, Dexter - making all sorts of buddies - you seem to know an awful lot about them. I don't think I'd mind a squirt in the face much either though!

Ooooo, Mr. Dexter, your daycare looks like it would be a real blast! My sister, Mercy LOVES being shot in the face with water, so she would really like it there. The rest of us not so much as that usually means Mom is pretty ticked! Gimli

too bad my human is a SAHH, which means i don't have to be in daycare.!

sorry i haven't been around much in the past couple of months - my human won't let me use the computer, and she herself is too lazy to publish my blog posts!

but i've told her that if she doesn't shape up i WILL get another secretary, and *then* where will she be?
