Dexter the Little Monkey

Mango Minster Entry Deadline is January 27th!

Apology to Momma
Dear Momma,
I am sorry that I accidentally bashed your nose with my snooter last night and made it bleed a little (but nothing like the gusher you had when Mango bopped you with his big old head). I was just so excited practicing my weave poles and when I got it right I was really happy and wanted to give you a smoochie, but I guess I startled you and maybe hurt you a bit. Of course you should know by now that when I am excited that your face is not out of reach of my athletic levitations.

Momma sometimes calls me her little monkey because I love to jump and climb on just about anything that I see (well, and of course there was that incident where I stole an entire banana off the counter and ate it peel and all before momma could stop me).

But really I am a monkey because of my athletic skills so when we go on walkies we always get a little agility practice in wherever we can.

Before I show you my athletic moves, check out this pile of snow. HUGE! That will be there until spring.

This picnic table is at the ice cream store. They are closed for the winter, but people still go there to eat pizza and stuff so it is certainly worth checking for leftovers.

Almost like an A-frame except you can only go one way.

Whoops. How did this picture get in here?

Time to rest. Don't want to overdo things.

Ha! Statue dude! This platform is kind of high and momma was so surprised when I just hopped on up. What did she expect? I am a very agile labradude.

I convinced Momma to bring the camera so that you could see actual video of my walkie / agilities. Makes things much more exciting, don't you think?

Dexter done!

P.S. I received so many nice comments about my puppy photos that I thought I would include another one. Let me tell you, growing up with the Relentlessly Huge was not easy, but it did make me an expert on reading doggie body language because he can go from being my best pal to Mr. Grumpy Pants in a flash, but I always see how his body gets stiff and his face gets a funny look and clear out.

Marjie said...

You had a great walkie today. You Labradudes are very agile and athletic, there is no question of that. We Relentlessly Huge guys leave that kind of stuff to your superior expertise!

Awww, big brother Mango loves you! Mostly!

As always - love the puppy picture.

Oh, and we may have made our dad's nose bleed a couple of times. Those humans are so fragile.

Teehee! I love puppy pictures - especially those where it looks like the RH is a mountain and you are a little pebble (no offense intended!). I'm amazed that he didn't accidentally sit on you - it must all of your super agility powers!

Oh Yeah. NATURAL "real world" agilities. The BESTEST kind.

Darn you just about covered the world... Should we start calling you Sherwin Williams????

You were ridiculously cute as a puppy! Mom almost can't stand it!

I am very impressed by your athletic abilities! I can leap over the back of the couch from a stand, too. I can't do a lot of your other tricks, though. You are the Labradude!

Wow, free agility practice - great job, Dexter. Poor mom, hope her nose is OK. TD had bopped Mom a few times too.

Ouch, not good about your mom's nose. But like you said, she should have known better. I must say, you are probably one of the handsomest labradudes I've ever seen. You're really fillin' out since you got tutored.

DEx! nice agilities! Way to remind DOH that she should know how high your instant levitations are by now!

those weave poles are hard! we have to do them with Juno. she sometimes forgets a pole or two.

we do a lot of those agilites on our walkies too. it's fun! That is a very cute photo of you and the RH. You must have been very patient to put up with his split personalities. I guess when you're that huge, there's a lot of room for more than one personality in there, huh?

Hi Dexter,

You're such an agile dawg... and momma has to be extra careful with that I guess. I like your walkgility video... and it must be an experience growing up with the relentlessly huge.

Hello Dexter,

We hopes your momma's nose is healing quickly. We understands perfectly when our enthusiastic affections end up in disaster. Just this morning Tubby Jr jumped against the metal gate the Chief was opening and had it accidently slam against her shoulder!

Glad to report she's ok. Probably another bad bruise - so we've heard her mutter.

What cute pictures of your as wee pup Dexter. Is that drool coming town the top of your head in the main picture? Hehehe.

Marge jumped a guard rail this morning, too! We were trying to go to the beach. Then we saw a whole huge pack of offleash dogs, so we jumped it again and went back the other way.

I like your A-Frame bricky platform. Maybe you can practice your contacts!

BRUTUS said...

Most impressive jumping over the guard rail!! Thats some creative practice/exercise you and momma are doing. It's pouring here, so no walkies for me today. Mom built a teeter in the basement though, so guess what I'll be doing....

Hi Dexter! We were sure you could summit that snowpile in no time at all! And your cookie treats look delicious!! What an adorable puppy you were (still cute)! On our walk yesterday we passed by moosies that were browsing in some trees! Our mom almost had a heart attack but we were able to pick up the pace and get by them without needing the EMTs!!! The giant new dog that showed up at our house had never seen a moose before. I don't think moosies live at the Jersey Shore! xoxo Love, Toby (on behalf of his Pack)

Ludo van Doggy said...

You has the coolest attitude to life, it being just one big agility game! I will follow in your footsteps Dexter. Too bad about your Mom's nose, but they will get their faces in our way.

Hiya Dexter! You are a very agile dawg and Mom thinks it is great how you keep lookin' back to see if the camera is still rollin'.

Maybe if she videoed me I would look back at her more instead of focusin' on the next great thing in my path.

Love the pic of little Dex with RH. I'm glad he likes you, most of the time and that you know when to vamoose!

JD and Max said...

Hi Dexter - we're loving the puppy photos, was great to see another one! Your poor mamma - but we're sure she understands it was an accident. (JD took our a pensioner the other day - he was convinced this chap had his hands in his pockets because he had a treat there and so he 'launched' - er, ooops!! Luckily the chap was very fit and was very fond of doggies, but female human was absolutely mortified!!)

Schnauzer snuggles - JD and Max.

Wow, Dexter you really can jump high! And you wag your tail a lot!

I'm jealous of the cool stuff you get to climb on.

Dexter, you melt my heart the way you look up at Momma on your walkies.

Oh, Dexter! Look what you did, dude! You posted that little letter in the beginning of your post, my mom was in the room watching over my shoulder, and BAM she starts to ROFL but not before slobbering on the monitor. Yikes. Windex please! As for your walkie, I'm curious as to how many miles you put on that picnic bench.
PS Tell Mango that I've nicknamed him RH&W. It's honorary. It means Relentlessly Huge & Wise. I'm grateful for his youtube suggestion. Can't believe he took the time. Double thanks to Mango.

Honey the Great Dane said...

Ouch! Dexter - your poor Momma! I'm amazed she still has any nose left after you boys!

Wow - you really are agile, huh? That picture of you up with the statue almost had me swooning from heights! :-)
