My New Ramp

The other day Momma had a chat with me...

She said that even though I am a most fit and athletic doggie right now, that might not always be the case and there could come a time when I might not be able to leap nimbly into my mastiff mobile.

Then she showed me this big box which she said had something special JUST FOR ME!

Oh goodie!

Huh? Telescoping ramp? What?

Apparently this was the only ramp she could find that is said to be able to hold the weight of doggies in excess of 200 pounds such as myself.

Being an adventurous sort, I said, "bring it on!"

Apparently I have to "practice" with it before I can try it out with my Mastiff Mobile. Whatever. Momma is in charge now. Sigh.

But really, I knew right away how to use it.

See? It was barely out of the box before I put my big old foot on it.

I wanted to see how it worked right away, but Momma insisted that I get used to walking on it flat on the ground inside.

Good sport that I am, I went along with this rather insulting suggestion. Here is the movie.

It might look funny because the room was dark and we were experimenting with the iMovie adjustments. No worries, you can still appreciate all the action.

OMG! She is wearing that sweater AGAIN! How embarrassing.

OK, so that was totally worth it because when we were done I got a BRAND NEW STUFFIE!

A Mango sized Wart Hog!

Thanks!

Stay tuned for more adventures with my new ramp (once it stops raining I think).

Mango Man! Oh yeah!

Mom didn't have her glasses on and she got terribly upset when she thought you were getting a new RUMP. With all the talk about Laciegirl's butt-erama, she thought major surgery was involved to keep up.

Whew, what a relief.

We were quite impressed by the elegance of your movements on the flat-on-the-ground ramp -- but your mom does seem to have some doubt as to the ability of your hooge brain to grasp the concept of tilt versus flat.

We, on the other paw, know you were just being diplomatic and indulging the dispenser of treats and new stuffies!!!

Wirey love,

Jake and Just Harry

Hey, Mango, you need to work the learning curve a bit, so you can get more treats. You did do great, though, and such a good idea to get you used to it now.

Now that wart hog is pretty impressive, has Pee Wee tried to steal it yet? We may need some tips on how to protect of stuffies from the little miss here.

That looks like Moose's ramp! I thought for sure yours would have come with a forcefield though... did you have momma double check the box? Are you maybe just getting too wise for such silliness like obeying forcefields?
Your warthog is glorious! Keep it up RH!
p.s. that movie was kinda x-rated at times. Did you consent to being filmed at that angle ;-)
p.p.s. imovie.... I swear I can never get it to do the same thing twice!

Sam and Pippen said...

Dude!

You are the MASTER of the ramp! Maybe you need more practice though so you can get more treats!

Wow, Mango, I am impressed. However, is the Mumster referring to when you get old and won't be able to climb stairs anymore? Maybe she should go to a Surplus store and pick up a canvas stretcher you could ride if you should find it hard to walk the new ramp. Look on down that road!

Kisses,
Stella

Hi Mango,

That's so nice of your mom to plan ahead. Our only question and concern is... why is the ramp so narrow?!

That wart hog looks like the size of Captain!!!

Hi Mango
It never fails to amaze us the things you do to amuse your humans!
This will be hours of fun for them and there will be treats for you - life could not be better.
We trust that as you get older your parents will be looking for a bungalow for you!

With your skills, I expect you'll be able to be walking tightropes soon!

Dude! I need a ramp like that for Momma's Suburban! My brother Patrick just lifts me into his truck, but I don't like that so well. I like Jeff's Lincoln Town Car best, because I can just walk onto the floor and lie on the back seat. So where did your Momma find that ramp? Maybe we can get one to cover the porch step so I can tend to business in the yard easily. I'm almost 9, and my stupid humans say that's "OLD"!

And you are lucky you have rain. We now have 2 feet of snow on the ground, and even full sized doggies such as me have trouble in that much stuff!

Thor

Mango, you did a good job with the ramp, and Teka was most impressed with your new velvet coat. I tried to tell her it was just the lighting, but she insists.

You did well with the ramp jobbie Mango. You sure you haven't been sneaking off to join Pee Wee in his agility class? Yep your ramp is half of an A Frame without the stopping. But you could for treats.

Mango, you have the best videos, and with music and everything - they're awesome! Great job on the ramp - it's nice to have that for whenever you may need it, since only a super-strong super-human would be able to lift you into a vehicle if you could not get in on your own power.

Princess said...

Hi Mango, long time follower, probably one of my first times posting...but has anyone told you you're handsome?

Mom says she loves you, she loves big dogs and is upset that daddy won't agree to anything bigger than me. Something about taking up too much space in the bed.

Hope you enjoy your new ramp looks like it could be useful!!

Mango Man! Oh yeah!

pee ess: i would have never thought of walking my dogs on a ramp on the flat first... good thinking! last night at warehouse training we had to jump our dogs into a dark truck then try to get them to lay across our shoulders! holy crap, i didn't try that. i just did the truck jump and i picked up juno for her jump down because it was too high for her wee hips... waaahhh...

Ooh, Mango - my humans have been talking about getting a ramp for me for ages...so it was really interesting to see you with yours! Great idea of your Momma to get it now and get you used to it while you're still fit & agile - would have been much harder if you were sore anywhere already and associated the soreness with the ramp! So great job on your Momma for introducing it so well!

Anyway, thanks for the well wishes. Surgery on this eye should go better because it's being done right by an ophthalmologist and hopefully won't get infected. It will hurt a lot more after the surgery.

Mango, don't feel bad. Stella needs stairs just to get up on the couch. And get this! Our mom wears the same sweater all the time too! Dad pointed it out the other night when she reached for some spices (while makin' his dinner she might add) and there was a hole in the armpit. She said it's because it's kinda old, he said it's because she wears it too much. That was our cue to gets out of the kitchen...

Hi Mango,

Yup...my mom wasted her money on one of those ramps for me...she bought it and tried to get me to use it but I wanted nothing to do with it. When my brother Bootsie was still with us she got him to use it but me I just jumped right over it all the time. She gave up and now it just sits in the garage collecting dust. Too bad you didn't live near us, you could just return yours and have ours for free.

About your comment on Chrome's blog, yes he and Galaxy got along for several months, but the dynamic changed as he got older and she started bullying him to where he wouldn't even go into the barn, not to mention when she kicked him in the face! She just wasn't the nicest horse. :)
