Terse Tuesday - Mostly Sun Baking

Some readers were a bit put off by the ominous food that came in the house for the little rock eater. It is just for Momma and Master to have on hand should he decide to pursue this new indulgence of his again. It is intended to "move things along." Hence the name, "WD Dog." Get it? Like "WD40."

Besides, a couple of rocks is NOTHING. Let's not forget the time when one of Master's tube socks emerged from my large and producing curious objects bottom. That was over a foot long. Beat that! Ha!

I, Mango, had a rather uneventful, but still satisfying day. The sun has returned to Master Chew Sits and with it, the promise of replenishing my depleted vitamin D's by spending as much time as possible baking.

Go away, PeeWee, I am busy.

I obliged the stone scarfer with some zoomies (note, in the shade). Guess he is feeling cured.

And exercised my mentals with some nice stick chewing, albeit in an energy conserving posture.

Momma made this exciting movie showing me engaging in my most favorite activity.

Here is a most deceptive movie. Do not be fooled into thinking that I have become an obedient dog. I felt like coming in anyway. Now I used to turn into a bucking bronco when momma would get the leash out and force me to come in, but that was kind of exhausting so now I humor her. Anyway, she doesn't always really want me inside anyway, but says we are "practicing" and once I go in we go right back out again. Go figure.

[Note from Momma - You can see in this movie how Mango has to kind of collect himself to get up. At almost five years old, he has crested the mid point of his short life span and does experience some stiffness. Getting up clearly requires concentration for him]

That a boy, PeeWee, now you're getting the hang of it. Good times, right?

Mango Man! Oh yeah!

Oh Mango - look at you synchonizing your nap with Pee Wee - what a great photo!!! And we love how you get so much exercise during your sunbath with that tail thumping.

You sure are a pro at the sun baking Mango...even better than Bilbo I think!

Half of your lifespan over? Thats sad. I don't want to hear about that

Marjie said...

I still have a foot of snow in my yard, so I cannot yet sunbathe. Because my porch is concrete - which is most wonderful in summer - my Momma won't let me bask in the sun on my porch. Something about cold concrete and old bones. Then she reminds me that I'll be 9 in May. Pshaw! Has she looked in a mirror lately?

Woo! That first vid was especially riveting! I didn't know you played the drums! Very cool. You have a good beat there, Mango!
I really think that after you get up and come in like that, that you need a big hug and a smooch from your mom. And a cookie. I hope she does that for you!
I like your mom's voice, btw. I think I'd hug her if I met her.

I thought that was some Most Impressive tail thumping, Mango! I wish I had a tail to thump cuz it looks like fun! But me and Brudder Ranger just have these l'il ol stump things. I guess I shall have to live vicariously through you.

Glad that Dexter is feeling better and I thought it was Most Considerate of you to humor your momma and come in.

With your synchronized sun-baking it looks like Dexter is a shrunken version of you, a Shrinky Dink! I guess I am aging myself with that reference though.

Two Country Poodles said...

Yea I agree Dexter is a Mango Shrinky Dink! BOL BOL BOL I know how you feel old man Mango...I am 9 and starting to slow down my self. Its ruff getting old isn't it? We could get matching walkers...That would be cool!

We like sun baking on the brick patio here. We can see that you do it very well and have taught Dexter some good technique. Our person does that "come" and then "go play" routine too. She says it helps us realize that "come" does not mean the end of our fun times. As long as she has cheese, we don't care what she says!

Sun baking? Dude. It's snowing here.... I think that our sun baking days are still quite a ways out. Besides, I think we have mud bath season before we have sun baking season.... Good work in teaching Pee Wee how to bake!

Sunbathing is a very important skill! Looks like you have it mastered, Mango. Love the picture of you chewing your stickie.

Yes, the sun has finally returned, but it's going to be raining heavily this weekend just when we're planning on trying for New York City again...

We love the sunbathing picture, and think you should convince the hoomans to retire with you to Azrizona...it is almost always warm there, and Joey could help you find a good place for sunbathing.

Weather is getting some better here too, we have been practicing zoomies during the sunnier periods.

I agree with Kari - let's pretend that Mango is two forever.

Any chance that tube sock made it into pictures? :)

Don't worry, I never perform obediently in public, either!

Science question, just wondering whether PeeWee absorb more heat in the baking process by virtue of being darker... hmmm?

Mango--Peewee---that last picture of you brothers snoozing in the sunshine was just plain wonderful. If its sunny tomorrow, I might be able to do that myself on my porch. All the snow has melted off the roof of the house, so thats not dripping anymore. whee!

I loved the "clap-clap" of your tail!
Kisses and hugs

Ummm ahem Pee Wee- yoohoo! I thought your job was to keep the beast active. He's put a magic mango spell on you! Snap out of it.

Stella, Gunther and Betty said...

Mango, careful buddy. Lean back any farther and your big butt is gonna fall off the porch.

Ya know, Emmitt's mom, Melissa has a massage lady come out to massage Emmitt's stiff muscles. Maybe your mom should do the same thing... Just a thought.

Good thing that you are soaking up all those vitamin D's from the sun! Our sun came for 2 days and then faked us out! It's cloudy now. Momma is not a happy camper!

Hi Mango
You have a 'martha' tail there lying on the decking - thud, thud, thud!
You were very near the edge which is something you should think about if you decide to snooze.....then roll over......we are just saying there is a bit of health and safety concern there!
We are sorry to know that you are beginning to get stiff - so is Bailey!
Hope you are taking your cod liver oil!
love and kisses

Synchronized sun baking! BOL Loved the post and videos as usual :) As for you big guy, my M has discovered some supplements that got our Linguini from having difficulty getting in the car to romping and playing like a pup. Perhaps you can benefit from something like that.

JD and Max said...

Hi Mango - ah, we loved that last photo as we nap like that, in perfect synchronisity. In fact, it could almost be us, since we're only a wee bit smaller than you and Dexter...ahem!

Loved the tail-wag video - made FH feel all happy. Us dogs have magical powers like that don't we?!

Hmmm, we've never actually eaten stones, but if Dexter thinks they're tasty mayb we should give one a go...?

Aw...that last picture is just GORGEOUS!!!!

I was impressed with you getting up & coming in, Mango - I thought that was some pretty fluid action coming from a big boy like yourself! :-) I can have some trouble in that department too, although your deck looked a bit like my slippery wood floors and I think it's always harder for us big guys to get traction to heave our weight up on smooth surfaces! :-)

But hey - that most EXCITING video has to be that sunbaking one!! God - I nearly had heart palpitations watching you! OOooooohh....it's been raining here for days - what I wouldn't give for a nice sunny spot right now!!!

The weather guy has PROMISED that we will have sun this next week after having so much rain and COLD lately! I can hardly wait to bake MY old bones in it!

Maybe you should think about talking your Mom into trying this Dr. Frank's Joint Pain Relief that I've been taking for the past 8 months or so. It has REALLY helped ME a LOT!!! I am just SO GLAD that Mom's friend told her how well it had worked for their old dog! She gets it online... of course, since you are so Relentlessly Huge, it might be a bit expensive... you might have to drink a quart a day!
