It's Too Darn HOT!

Sure, I know that Master Chew Sits is not like Arid Zona or Floor Duh or Taxes, but it can still get hot and anything above 70 degrees is too hot for the Mango. I am a most sensitive being. THIS is ridiculous! I mean that thermometer is in the SHADE for Pete's sake.

I sought out the shady part of my estate, but I was still overcome and almost fainted! Oh help!

I FINALLY convinced stupid momma to turn on the AC already and in a strange display of generosity, she set the thermostat for 76 degrees (perhaps a bit too much sun on her as well).

I quickly positioned myself thusly on the kitchen floor to maximize cooling exposure on my boiling innards.

Look! Even PeeWee felt faint. Yuh, like he wouldn't even play tennis ball. Now THAT's hot.

After a time, I noticed that momma had setup the oscillating fan to move the cool air about and managed (just) to drag myself in front of it and enjoy it's restorative breeze.

All I can say is, WICKED PISSAH HOT! And totally unacceptable.
You can see my hot stuff movie by clicking here.

Mango Man! Oh yeah!

P.S. My good pal and fellow Mastiff, El'bow is having a special birthday contest. You can click here to enter or click on his handsome face in my sidebar.

We feel you, Mango... did you also get momma to open the fridge door for you to lay in front too... for the first time, there's no trace of any slobbers on your mastiff face, it must have dried instantly under those heat.

Mango pal, you poor old sensitive soul. Just come over here and visit me in Aberdeen. I don't think we've even had 70 degrees here yet this summer. And the wind off the North Sea provides all the air conditioning a dog or human could possibly want!

Wow Mango. It's hotter in Mastiff Chew Sits than down here on Lawn Eye Gland. How come? It's supposed to be a warm week here, too. I hope it doesn't get that warm. Shar Pei don't much tolerate a lot of heat either, except possibly Hero who clearly has super powers.

I hear ya dude! The heat (& wicked pissah humidity) here totally SUX!

But aren't fans the best invention EVER!!

I noticed in the video PeeWee was sitting in a sun spot. WTF?

Hi Mango

When it's really hot my human gives me ice-cubes to lick - they really cool me down, and then I can chase them if I get bored.

Right now it's winter here, and you won't believe it - my human's been making me wear coats! She's even been cutting holes in them so she can attach my leash to my harness underneath - and she's actually proud of it!

She wakes me up early in the morning when I'm all snuggled in under the blankets, and I'm so sleepy I can hardly stand - and that's when she strikes! Next thing I know, I'm all bundled up and out we go into the cold, wet outside, which is the exact opposite of being snuggled in under the blankets. Humans!

I hope you don't find the heat too exhausting - after all, there are only a certain number of hours in the day, so it's not easy to find *extra* sleeping time.

It is pretty hot here too...and most HOOMID according to the muzzer. I am actually thinking about requesting a cooling baff.

Frankie Furter said...

Oh yeah, my temp thingy said exactly the same thingy yesterday. I had my snow locker thingy running so that I could go out and play for a while then come in and cool down. I still like this summer thingy better than winter.
Keep your hooogeness cool.

Poor Mango... reading about your boiling innards made me all sad and weepy. Wish there was something I could do to help you out, but we don't have any cool airs here either except inside and I'm not willing to part with them (sorry.) Seems like your momma could crank that a/c machine and get your dog house down to a comfortable 72 degrees. Oh well, look at it this way... at least you haven't been swallowed by a shark (as if! We find the air conditioning vents in the floor in each room and we each lie on top of one. It cools us off nicely, but Mom says it makes the room warmer. Who cares as long as we stay cool?

Heather and Ellie said...

Hot hot hot! It's the humid that really gets me...I don't mind the heat TOO much, but I really dislike it when it's humid!

Hey, at least you have air conditioning....we have a ritual of cooling down the house by opening up all the windows, then in the morning closing them all up. It's certainly not air conditioning, but it's better than nothing!

Maybe you should see if that stingy woman you live with will give you some Frosty Paws, or at least an ice cube!

Whew! I'm SO glad your momma came to her senses and turned on the cold box. I was hot all day yesterdays too and could hardly wiggle OR wag! I'm glad that neither you or PeeWee expired from heat exhaustion. What a close call!

Hi Mango - we feel your pain! Being hounds of dark and rather shaggy coats we suffer dreadfully when it's hot. In the You Kay fine weather is a rare occurrance but recently it has been hideously hot - it drains a pups soul! We don't have AC here so we looked at your photos with envious eyesl....sigh! We hope it cools down for you and Dexter soon. Schnauzer snuggles - JD and Max.

Dude, here in the mountains of Pencil Vane-yo, it is not so hot. It has been around 75, and my Momma runs the AC for me, encouraged by the Great Red Protector who bellows that he is too warm also. Plus we have many ceiling fans to keep the air moving. Tell your Momma you want ceiling fans in every room! They are most comforting.

♥♥♥ The OP Pack ♥♥♥ said...

Mango, we so sympathize with you. It is way too damn hot here too. We won't even go out for the Momster, even the pipsqueak Ciara doesn't want to go out. We get our A/C at about 74 during the day, not bad as long as you avoid the carpets. And we get those ceiling fans and oscillating fans going too. REally helps, but it gets a bit boring inside all the time.

Needless to say, we are SO ready for winter regardless of what the Momster thinks.

Oh Massive Mango. We totally and completely understand. We're lucky if Gramma sets the thermostat at 78°. More likely it's at 80°. And remember. We're from a climate where it gets into the 50s at night, and Moma lets us keep the windows wide open. We're roasting.

But we love our Gramma.

Lay low and try not to move - we don't have a fan but we need one or even two.
You just pace yourself - don't go out for your walkies until later in the evening when hopefully it will be cooler.

Wow! That's hot! We were at a car race in the Utah/Nevada desert (if you went about 100 yards west of the race course, you were technically in Nevada), and it was in the 90s, but Mom and Dad turned on the air conditioning in the House With Wheels and put ice in our water dishes, so we were Most Comfy. However, we had just had our Almost Nekkid haircuts, and we were good. I cannot imagine how a ginormous creature such as yourself is able to keep all of that surface area of yours cool. (And does your Mom think that 76 is cool?!? Eesh.) Stay cool, big guy!

Gotcha beat, pal, it was 100-degrees here in South Carolina last week, and the heat indexes have been up to 115! Fortunately, we're having a cool spell - upper 80's with heat index of 95 degrees. Remember, heat rises, so keep that huge body low to the ground!

Wicked pissa hot? What Mumsie?? Watch my mouth?? I was just repeating what Mango sai...What? Yes, Ma'am...(Lacie is displaying an unusual amount of meekness...she must be in need of a credit card...)

Hmm...and the Labra-stiff pool (get it???) wasn't filled why??? Or perhaps it's a Mastador pool...I'm just sayin'...

Honestly Mango, all that's been going on around here is watching Mumsie increase her carbon footprint by overzealous paper towel usage in cleanin' up after Scruffy.

And Mrs. Robin gave birth again??? Hmm...19 Eggs and Counting? Perhaps, it was some other creature just using the nest? Perhaps teeny tiny little Mastiffs are gonna hatch outta there like you did...I don't think your egg was quite that pretty a blue, was it?

This comment is degenerating...
