Momma's Big Adventure (without ME!)

I have been trying to piece together what really happened whilst I was at camp, but all I have to go on is what is inside the flashy beast, so bear with me.

First I found this photo of what appears to possibly be some sort of transport device for lazy humans who do not want to walk to their destinations.

Then, this! Huh? Momma went all the way to the South Pacific? No wonder she looks so tired. That is very far west of Rt. 495 and certainly too hot for the Mango.

I hear that place is populated with singing and dancing sailors and full orchestras.

Most peculiar.

New Jersey? I have heard of that before. I was unaware that it was located underground.

Hey! It's Grandpa. I can read the sign too, it says Stevens Institute of Technology. I had to google that to find out more. Apparently it is some nerd training camp. Looks like they left the gates open. Uh oh. The nerds will be running amok in New Jersey! Hang on to your iPhones!

Perhaps that whole college thing is just a cover because here I see Grandpa inspecting the canon strategically aimed at New York City. Not a bad idea since that Snake Plisskin chap might try to escape at any moment. "All right, get your machine ready, I'm coming out."

Who are these old guys and why is Grandpa sitting with them? Allegedly they are having something called a "college reunion." Yuh, like from 60 years ago. Are you kidding me? No wonder they all look tired. I bet they had to take class notes on stone tablets.

Is it my imagination or does one of those aging nerds have an alien beam shooting out of his head? I hope momma did not get too close to him.

Ah ha! I KNEW it! Momma and Miss Asta! And now I recognize Asta's luxury penthouse. And it looks like momma is giving her (gasp) FOODABLES!

And a massage?

Then I found a picture of this sink hole filled with tables and some gold colored guy in a swimming pool. This is getting curiouser and curiouser.

Wow! Grandpa is way up high! Are those giant sneeze guards in front of him? Doesn't seem like much of a salad bar if you ask me.

Huh? Grandma was there too?

Whoa Nellie! That appears to be a dog park to end all dog parks. The Mango could most certainly would have had fun leaving his Mango-ness all over that place. I even spot a little lake for PeeWee to cool his labraself.

Well, I am still unclear as to what all these photos mean and I think I am kind of glad that I was safe at camp and not being exposed to giant golden people and ancient alien nerds, but I am sorry that I did not get to visit Miss Asta.

Maybe next time...

Oh! You didn't think I would post with zero photos of my large and handsome self did you? Here is a favorite from my archives for your viewing pleasure.

Mango Man! Oh yeah!

Hope you had fun at camp! Did you learn to play the ukelele?

It does seem that your momma went to some unusual places while you were at camp. We are glad that she got back safely. But we think you should be very jealous of all the attention she gave to Asta.

Wow, and we thought all that happened while you guys were at camp was some new brick work. Question: did your Mom take her fanny pack full of foodables all the way to NYC?

Hey - my momma's been to that big dog park before, but I don't wanna go - there are horses there. Sorry, but you know how horses ruin everything.

My Grammy has her 60th high school reunion this summer - Did your Grampaw go to school with T-rexes & brontosouruses like my Grammy did?

Mom is so jealous that your mom got to see Asta. I am so jealous your mom got to see Ami and George. They are awesome. Mom has been seeing loads of Mastiffs and Bull Mastiffs lately. She was in Maine and there was a dog show nearby and the place was overrun! None were as handsome or magnificent as you though.

dewdana said...

except for asta and the swimming pool, oh and the park with the lake I don't think you woulda had much fun... geek reunions always sound like more than they are... they usually just make a lot of slide rule jokes!

Heather and Ellie said...

Glad you made it to NYC, Mango Momma!

Mango, I agree, the guy with the light beaming up from his head seems a little odd....perhaps dangerous. If YOU had been there, you could have dealt with him! :)

Ellie loved that park--it has more smells than you can imagine. And dogs. Lots of dogs! If you like dog watching, Mango, than it's the place for you.

Two Pitties in the City said...

That does look like a nice trip your family went on. But I think that final picture of you singing made it all worthwhile.

Gus said...

Wow! Those are some great pix. Please tell your Grandpa not to aim that cannon thingy at NYC, he might hurt Miss Asta!

Samantha said...

I didn't know NJ was "under" ground either. Curious indeed! (But I must say congrats to Grandpa - a 60th college reunion? Way to go!) NY was once Mom's hometown too - golden giants and that big green place with a lake that looks like a fun one to frolic in! But the Asta and Mom pic certainly is rather traitorous - hope YOU get to visit Asta youself soon! GREAT picture of you at the end of this curious, but furry cool story!

Whoa! That was some crazy stuff, Mango! I wonder if they managed to catch sight of Nooyor Kitteh while they were there?

I do likes the looks of your grandma and grandpa. They seems like real nice peoples. But yeah, the old guy with the laser beam coming out of his head looks dangerous to me.

I'm sorry you didn't gets to visit Miss Asta. And I guess your mom didn't even bring you any of her floof either, huh? How rude!

Sounds like your Moms and your grandpawrents had a pawsome little trip there!!

That ancient alien beam is furry scary though. Looks like there was actually another one there hidden!

What's up with that golden guy anyway? Is he one of the Golden Girls' boyfriend?

New Jersey being underground makes total sense. And being full of nerds? That makes sense, too. Grannie and Grandpa lived in New Jersey for a few years when they were youngsters (and dinosaurs still roamed the earth), and Grandpa is definitely one of those nerdy types who makes slide rule jokes (heck, he even knows how to USE a slide rule...). I think my Mom would have enjoyed the South Pacific more than New Jersey, but I could be wrong... (But I don't think so...)

Good thing we stay out of New Jersey, since the nerds are invading. My momma has a Razr, which my sisters and brothers say is antiquated and old school. Huhn. Don't they recognize Momma as old school? But at least she isn't underground, like New Jersey, and doesn't have alien light beams coming out of her head. Good job staying north of 495. Momma says that giant dog park is not that dog friendly. You can't just leave your "gifts" everywhere; they want you to take them with you.

Thanks for including that picture of Dexter! I mean, yourself!

I'm sure your hugeness would have enjoyed a visit to the big city. I can just see you clearing the sidewalks as you lumber down 5th avenue... maybe next time?

About the tractor - almost made my own reference to manliness (dogliness?) in the post, but feared offending someone. You wouldn't have given it a 2nd thought. I've always admired your utter lack of scruples big guy. Scruples is a funny word isn't it? Reminds me of scraps. Must go search for crumbs now.

lovely pics, but I agree, most puzzling. The guys with the spear of light coming out of their bonce is rather unsettling I have to say.

I do hope No Nerds were injured in the creation of this post however!

So why didn't your Mama take you both with her, surely she could have fitted you in a spare case, I mean, it is not as if Mango takes up much room is it?

Again, puzzling. But so nice for your Mama to meet serene moment I guess in a crazy Road Trip.
