We go to Camp and Bricks Arrive

The other day I was enjoying my morning meditations when I was rudely awakened by the sound of boisterous activity in the back of my estate.

A glance out the window revealed these hearty chaps digging about in PeeWee's rock garden. Huh?

Perhaps they all have hungry labradorks at home.

Still, it was most annoying and so when momma asked me if I would like to go to camp for a couple of days I replied with enthusiasm.

Sadly, PeeWee came along too. Lucky for me, I was able to nab the optimal seat in the mastiff mobile. Amazing how confined it seems when you add a mutant labrafool.

Now I LOVE camp. And when we got there I was so happy to go and greet my pals that I did not even stop to pose for a photo. Naturally, I get the penthouse suite given my full sizedness.

PeeWee had an adjacent room. I liked having the little guy close by, but I didn't really want to share my space with him.

Camp is always fun, but by Sunday night I was feeling a bit homesick and so I called momma and asked if she could come and get me.

Apparently I had made an unfortunate choice in scheduling my departure because we were in the midst of a meteorological event. The nice inn keepers told me that momma had phoned and said she might not make it in time to get me because trees were down and roads were flooded.

Here is an actual photo from her journey.

But she did make it (with three minutes to spare mind you). I couldn't wait to get back home.

Momma let me get in the mastiff mobile first, but somehow stupid PeeWee managed to squirm his wee self into my Mango spot for maximum ride enjoyment. See his little beady eyes there?

Look at this! Only room for my large and needing soft surfaces head. Not to mention, dangerously close to his stinky labrabutt.

Driving up to my estate, I observed that some sort of bizarre Stonehenge like constructions had been going on. How alarming. I KNEW I shouldn't have left those rock digging thugs here unattended.

But in the back.... check it out! Yuh! I now have my own brick path to the barn.

Plus, PeeWee's rock garden has been replaced with rocks which I doubt even he can swallow.

Here is a token labraphoto. See what a generous chap I am with my bloggy?

Camp is fun, but nothing beats my own bed in my own dog cave.

But wait, there's more! After momma retired for the evening, I snagged the flashy beast and look what I found on it!

Why, that is my own momma, with Miss Asta! Huh? What exactly happened whilst I was enjoying my sleepover? That does not look like my estate. Is it possible that Momma tricked me into going to camp so that she could run away and visit Asta without ME? Impossible!

Stay tuned...

Mango Man! Oh yeah!

P.S. I was using one of those fancy pants google templates and some people could not see my most amazing header photo with some browsers. I switched it back to a classic template. Hope that works for everybody.

Mango, I think we would be worried next time momma mentioned going to camp. We're already suspicious when momma mentions going for a ride because now we come home with an extra mouth to feed... Your yard does look very nice though. Does your people wanna come over to our place?

Love,

Wow - you got a lot of water there - you could send it to us out here - we'll be needing it late this summer! Nice camp, Mango and Dexter - looks like great sleepover digs - and NICE to have the penthouse (all to yourself?) - wayto make the BIG demands! But looking forward to installment #2 - that is a mystery alright!
Hugs xoxo

PS - see top pic all the time now!

Camp sounds pretty fun, Mango, but I think you were right to decide to go home when you did. Dog knows what your Mom was getting up to without you going by the evidence you found. We look forward to the next installment.

Wow, that WAS quite the meteorological event! I hope everyone was OK! I'm glad your mom made it to camp to get you!
I can't wait to hear your mom's explanation of that photo of you and Asta! Hrumph!

That was some meteorological event!!

We're at camp too -- while our flat selves get to wander the planet. Is that fair? We like camp all right -- but they're getting all the attention and we're a bit jelly.

Your momma made a pretty smart move getting rid of the labradork's rocky treats. Sometimes humans have to make choices for canines...that's just the way it is.

Wirey love,

Jake and Just Harry

There is always something going on at your estate! Now there are bricks and rocks all over the place. We like going away to sleep away camp too. It looks like your momma was cheating on you though and I would be most suspicious of what was going on while you were away.

Niamh & Ambrose

Mango my man!
Each day I learn new things about our humans and not all of them are good. Could it really be that your own momma packed you off to camp and then snuck off to visit the glamorous Miss Asta for the weekend? Please tell me it isn't true...

Hi Mango, we are sure the reason for Camp was so your relentlessly huge self would not be disturbed by the building works.
Now as you know we are no strangers to brick paths being laid ourselves and we find humans get a bit tetchy about canine intervention.
Best out of the way but we are glad you are safely back home.
The path looks lovely and we anticipated seeing a red carpet laid on top to celebrate your arrival back at the Estate.
Your humans are slipping up!

Mom says we're going to get a brick patio in our yard because we kill the grass. Any grass that survives our zoomie attacks gets eaten, pulled up by the roots. That's the best way to enjoy greens.

How neat that you have your very own brick sidewalk that leads to your barn, Mango!
Your header photo is perfectly in place! We just love your bib!

We can now see all the handsomeness in your blog header!

I have to confess, I enjoy Dexter's antics a great deal! I employ a few of the same methods myself. It keeps the others young! I am sure Dex does it with the best of intentions!

Your mom was sneaking around with other dogs? And strange men were doing strange things in your backyard? Oh, this does not bode well!

Mango, you are not unlike your blogger template, classic.

We think we saw Asta's great grandfather in a movie one time with William Powell. It was good.

Our human's sister in law lives in Barnstable and said it was not exactly boating weather this past weekend, and yet it looks as though your Mom is boating in her car.

Hey, we're having a contest on our blog. You can win a $40 gift certificate. The contest is not just for cats, so come check it out if you want. It ends on Thursday June 10th.

Mango that looks like quite the camp!! Maybe I should look into booking a room the next time my parents decide to do something silly, like MOVE!! We are all moved into the new Estate and I'm trying to settle in but those meterolgical events have prevented me from totally relaxing. Good luck with those rock thugs! Be Careful!

Kylie

I understand about all the rain - I was cooped up all weekend and Momma is awful upset that her flower beds were washed away and she's gonna have to replant the carrot row in the garden.

The work going on at your estate looks very exciting. Maybe it will be some kind of new activity for you, like running between like agility, or even gracefully jumping over the wall.

Hi, Mango!
I hope Dexter is not very upset about his rocks!
But... the path is pawesome!
I guess you took a very loooong nap if you did not notice your mom was away with Asta!
Let us know about it, ok?
Take care

How very fine of your humans to have a brick path thoughtfully constructed for you. My human brother Jeff constructed a flagstone path throughout my yard for me last summer, and it is most useful when I don't wish to muddy my feet. We mastiffs are nothing if not discriminating.

Wow! What a cool camp! And to come home to stone paths and mini Stonehenges. It's amazing what can happen when you leave for a little while, huh? Have you talked to your Mom about getting a roof rack for PeeWee so that you can have all of the Mastiffmobile to yourself? I've heard Thule makes some good roof racks...

Hi Mango - I could not believe that photo of what your human had to drive through to come and get you from Camp!! I thought you guys were in summer?!

I agree with you - I always enjoy my time at kennels but it's great to be back home! And in my own bed!!

Hey! Great new brick path! Hah! I'd like to see Pee Wee eat that!

Glad you had fun at camp, but didn't you give your Mom the once over when you saw her to see if there was other dog smell upon her person? We ALWAYS do and then give the appropriate dirty looks if one is detected!

With all that rain in your area, I'll bet you all appreciate the brick path! We've put down 2 x 12's to make paths out around the corrals for the people. Us pups don't mind the mud at all! :)
