Baby Birds, Weird Classmate, and Too Hot

Dexter here with another report of miscellany from the past few days;

Item #1

The baby birds are getting gigantic and very hungry. At least they are starting to look like actual birds.

I advised momma to discontinue all attempts to get an up close photo of the nest as mom and dad robins are very fierce these days. So she took these pictures sneaky through a crack in the door.

Apparently all three are thriving and quite demanding of their overworked parents.

Item #2

This weird guy showed up at school this week. Kind of a fat lab if you ask me.

He didn't say much and seemed mostly keen to practice his stand / stay.

Dude wouldn't even look at me.

Item #3

TOO HOT! TOO HOT! TOO HOT! So hot that the stingy witch has run the AC 24x7 for two whole days. I still want to chase the ball, but to be honest after just a few good runs I am happy to lay in front of the fan.

Dexter done!

P.S. Mango's new alien pal, Cerberus, sent us a link to a post regarding labrasteam and the utilization thereof. Although I do admire the artwork, I am not inclined to see myself as the next great source of power. I say get your own steam and let me keep mine. But if you want to check it out, click here. Momma says it is highly entertaining. Simple minded human.

In no time the robins will be flying away but the hot weather is here to stay... luckily you got the AC 24/7 now. The fat lab dude is just putting on a face, I bet he's admiring you from far, Dexter.

Licks, hero

I khan't blame the young one -

He probably thinks woo are khontagious or something -

PeeEssWoo: MANGO: the horrors of it all - the elekhtrikh khompany gerbils all died last night - and until they fetched a new batch I had no Huzzy Khool Air Khurrents from 6:15pm until 10:20pm!

Lola said...

I don't know, Dexter. I think Sweden would be worth visiting. I'd like to go there. Maybe you should reconsider. Anyway, I think Mango's new friend is kind of interesting and maybe later when I'm allowed back on the computer I'll check him out more.

About the heat. Oh, yeh. This is no weather for dogs. I mean I guess there are dogs who are good in the heat but I don't think that either one of us are them. Just take it very slow and the heat has to go away sometime. At least my mid-October.

lotsa licks, Lola

Mack said...

Glad to hear you guys are staying cool. This heat is so riduculous it's ridiculous.

Mango the Maltese kiddo said...

Oh the easter robin eggs has turned into pretty little birds!
Look at those hungry mouths twitting.
Please forgive my poor vision, I misread AC 24x7 for AK-47 the assault rifle, hehe.

Ina in Alaska said...

If we could send you some of our lovely, fresh cool air we would!! It has been rainy and cool up in Anchorage, our July 4 holiday weekend was rainy.

Perhaps Dexter can swim in the pool next door to cool down. Hope the heat wave will break soon! Catching up with your last few posts. The wedding was beautiful! I love a beach wedding, so pretty! Congratulations to the young couple!

We enjoyed the pictures of Dexter being fierce and the baby birds are so big!!! Sending hugs and cool air to the East Coast! xoxo

BRUTUS said...

Same problem here - we're trying to convince mom it is too hot to go outside for any reason. Carmen is happy to just potty inside, so why can't I do the same? Sheesh. Dexter we black dogs need to unite against the stipey ones to keep them from taking over and getting their way all the time - what do you think??

Oh, that Cerberus is brilliant, even if he is thinking about using your labrasteam!

I'm glad to hear that you haven't been attacked by those robins. I'd had to see a scene from The Birds right on your front porch. Mom and Dad rented that a few months ago and it was horrifying!

Dexter, we think that other Labradude in your class is a Labrafake. (or maybe he's just stuck up?)

We've been thinking of you guys and hope that you are all staying cool. It's way too hot there in the East. Glad the a/c is running 24-7 at your house.

Anne-Kathrine said...

Wow lots going on there :) Good luck with the birds. Hopefully the temps will come down soon :)

I like those pictures of the birds in the nest. It has been so hot here in Chicago the pooches are reluctant to do anything but lay around. This makes it calm and relaxing for us, even with the extra pooch.

We see quite a few of those odd ball Labs at puppy classes too. Never interested in playing or doing anything besides 'Stay'. Boy am I glad that I don't have to stay as long as those dogs do!

Heather and Pumpkin said...

It is too hot here too. I had to ride in my stroller this weekend lest I overheat.

twobarkingdogs said...

You have to love the a/c these days. My two mutts haven't been on a walk in over a week .. outside/back inside quickly and they lie under the ceiling fans.

violett said...

wow, the small alien become birds. Only pay attention that they do not develop to Hichcocks "The birds".
Here it is also too hot. 106°F is unusual for Germany. What has happened only with our computable world?
Lots of love

Mango you gotta get you one of these grrreat SNOW LOCKERS like I have. You fill it with snow in the winter and POOF... it cools the house down all summer.

As for that classmate of yours, did he come with wheels? I'm thinkin' he's a Wheel-less Wheelie?

Good luck with that.

I just ran away tonight...but didn't get further than the cul de sac. Was tryin' to go visit Asta...sheesch.

I dunno, we (what is this 'we' thing?!? I think the Mutant Puppy is trying to hone in on my bloggy... oh... wait, I'm not going to get any sympathy from you, huh, Dexter?) think that the little black squishy guy is kinda cute. Anyhoo, it has only been in the high 70s (and no humidity) here, so if you and the Relentlessly Goobering want to come visit, you are are more than welcome to take advantage of our cool mountain air. Just make sure that the RH brings his bib because Mom doesn't want to have to follow him around all day wiping up slobber... And Mom says those birdies look like Abby and me right before dinner time. I have no idea what she's talking about.

When the humans bought our estate, the Great Red Protector imported Tennesseeans to install something called "central air". Greatest thing the dude has ever done, aside from adopting me, of course. There are grates on the floor that blow cold air right onto my steamy self on these miserable days.

Glad to see your nest visitors are birds and not aliens. I was worried about UFOs and alien abductions and whatnot occurring in Master Chew Sits.

Keisha said...

Woof woof woof! :) Maybe ur new classmate will make friends later.

I think the little birdies are very cute. :)

How fun to watch the baby birdies. Now don't try to eat them when they jump out of the nest ok??? hehehe! Isn't the heat just awful? It's hot here and very very humid and rains almost every day. Flooding is all over Iowa. We stay in the house where the air conditioning is too! Stay cool.

I'm glad those alien babies have now been replaced with real birds. Shame about the attacks tho...

Chase a ball? What do you do with it after you chase it?

Hi Dexter - your new classmate IS weird! Why does he need to be in your class??!!

How lucky to have your very own baby birds! Although I have to say, they look pretty ugly at the moment!

At least you've GOT A/C! We don't even have that, and when we have 90+ weather and it RAINS, the humidity is so high that the "Swamp Coolers" this area usually uses, don't work very well at all! THAT is why we went to the beach after church yesterday! BG

If the temps stay as high as you are talking about, you won't even have to exercise or whatever to "steam" cause you'll steam just laying there on the floor! OC

Yep...Won't be long till those baby birds fly away! We've had two sets already in our back patio that have done that so far this year! Dott
