Holiday Photo Shoot FAIL (and baby - alien - birds)

As I was about to begin my morning perambulations, I spotted what I thought was the face of an adorable baby robin peeking out of the nest on my front porch.

I asked momma to get the steppy stool to facilitate a closer look and....

EEEEEE! Check out what has replaced the lovely blue eggs in the robin nest! ALIENS! Yuh, plus momma is afraid to use the front door now because the mom and dad robins are INSANE swooping down on anybody that gets close to their alien babies. Hope they move out soon.

Given that it is the 4th of July which would be Independence Day here in the US, I, Mango, thought I would treat my pals to a holiday appropriate photo shoot.

I was quick to arrange a most tasteful setup from which to make happy photos.

Problem is, Momma insisted that stupid PeeWee be in the picture too.

At first he tried to beguile her into excluding my large and celebrating self from any image by using his cute face. Sheesh.

Then when she insisted on a photo with both of us, he became most uncooperative and fussy.

This is totally NOT an approved holiday photo. I mean, seriously, the PeeWee looks absolutely HOOGE.

This is the best we could do. Note that PeeWee is nekked due to him attempting to consume his festive collar. Not much of a patriot if you ask me.

Yuh, and that camera angle makes him look kind of portly. Won't attract any gals looking like that.

Serves him right, the little pest.

Mango Man! Oh yeah!

P.S. I am sending calming Mango vibes to all my pals who are not happy when they hear fireworks. Be strong!

He he he! I am liking your photos very much! The more unco-operative the better in my humble Marvin opinion.

Happy Independence Day to youse all, may the flag of friendship always fly between our two nations.

Happy Fourth of July Right back at Y'all. Thank you for the calming vibes. Teka is not afraid of fireworks, but we can always use them for walkies.

You are most patriotic and that Dexter is not!

Don't forget that while Dexter was looking very portly you, on the other hand, looked very svelte... almost petite in comparison!

We enjoyed your holiday photos. Maybe the Pee Wee wanted independence from his decorative collar? He definitely does look a bit robust in those photos.

Thanks for the calming Mango vibes, we'll need them. Fireworks are illegal in our town due to the high fire danger but that just makes them more attractive to the freaks. Blah.

Samantha said...

I think I actually "received" those vibes, Mango, for the county fair is only about a mile away and I only barked once last night - usually, I have fits of growly barkies. Thanks! On to you! First... that nest is huge! And the birdies do look rather alien - stay away from them! And... there are some really super duper pix that your Ma captured! I LOVE that one up top! (with the closed eyes - yeah that's what I do after a billion flashies in my face!) Happy 4th to you guys - hope you don't live too near the boomers going off!
Hugs xoxoxo

You did much better with your holiday shoot than we did, Mango! Your header photo is brilliant - well, of course - that's because it's just YOU!
Have a happy 4th!

Love ya lots

Hi Mango - how strange the flashy box can be, firstly making Dexter appear HUGE and then making Dexter appear - well - HUGE again, he he he! He DOES seem somewhat portly in that last photo, something we know he is not!

And YIKES - those alien birdies are quite creepy! We wonder if they're scout units sent out by Groucho?!

Happy 4th July to you and yours big guy!

Thanks Mango, we need all the help we can get once the fireworks start popping!

Peewee is one of my favorite pups, so just leave him be, OK?

I really like your photos, and that one of you in the header is just perfect! Nice shot! I never realized modeling with a labradude was such hard work!

We had our local fireworks last night, so we'll just snooze while Mom and Dad are away tonight watching the big show down at the riverfront.

Lola said...

Well, Mango, you got the header shot all to yourself, due to being a better model than Dexter, I'd suppose. And that photo is a keeper! I hope your Mom can get a print of it made. It should be on your wall. In a prominent place. I just love it. I keep going back to look at it and I love it more each time. I think that one will get the ladies. I should know because I'm a lady and it's making my pulse race just a bit.

Happy 4th to you all.

Our Mom has given up on trying to get us all in one picture. We showed her when we were just puppies, that we weren't going to do that stuff. She thinks she's lucky if she gets two of us in the same shot.

Happy Fourth of July!!! (Mom did a bigger FAIL than yours by failing to procure flag-related items in time... Her argument is that Pioneer Day - the Utah State holiday - is on the 24th of July, and we can be patriotic looking then. In the meantime, we'll do our patriotic duty by being nuisances until Mom gives us grilled foodables.) Um. Sorry Dexter, but you do look a little portly there.... But maybe that's because you've already been partaking in the holiday foodables! BTW, those little birdies leave us all in the dust when it comes to Jaws of Doom. I'm just saying...

Oh, I very much like your new header, Mango. You looks pawsitively patriotic. Sorry abouts the photo shoot, though. Me and Brudder Ranger have it worked out that we are perfectly posed until mom starts to do the clicky thing and then voila! we totally mess up the picture. BWAHAHAHA! Oh, you should see mom's face. Priceless!

Oh, and I"m pretty sure those aren't baby birds. They looks like aliens to me!

Pawsome holiday pictures, dudes! I just do not like those booming fireworks, but my boys sit beside me to keep me safe.

You had better call NASA about those aliens on your porch. Then be prepared for Roswell-style alien geeks to try to invade your Estate.

Love the header pic! It really shows off your Mango-ness.

I agree that the group photo didn't come out looking very festive--you two like kind of like reluctant brothers that should be sitting next to each other but refuse to because it's a photo shoot :)

Ah well...Happy 4th, Mango man!

Happy 4th of July Mango & Dexter. You both are so very handsomr as always. Dexter, are you getting to big for your britches? You sure loked fierce in them pictures.

I was hoping you was gonna play the Name Game. I would love to hear how you got your nama Mango.

Happy 4th of July Mango. You look very dignified and handsome in your festive collar. I wish I could say the same for Pee Wee. You would definitely win "who wore it best?" for this photo. Perhaps you should take up modeling. You already have the sitting still part down.

Mango.. that title picture makes you look like a dork.

In my portlier days Mum preferred to call me "petsize". Helped my self esteem and all that.

Labradogs are known for holding no patriotic allegiances, my only allegience is to my dear Mummy Dearest whom I cannot be parted from.

You blog banner is awesome and just right! Your Mom really got a great shot of you, Mango! You , at least, recognize that decorum should be used in Independence day shots, as opposed to clowning around like some AOL dogs (Absence of Light) Actually, Dex does take a pretty good picture, where our Sadie is truly an Absence of Light black dog.

Oh, Dexter, you have such a WONDERFUL smile, and your coat just gleams in the sun, showing all of your stupendous rippling muscles... Big Sigh... Mercy
