Lightning and Another Day at Day Camp

Hey! It is almost time for El'bow's birthday. Not too late to enter his Happy Birthday El'bow contest. Click here for details.

Dexter here reporting that we have had lots of lightning and thunders, but no rain! Well, at least it cooled off a bit last night.

Even though there have been big storms all around us, they usually travel up Rt. 20 just north of our estate and don't make big winds or anything scary right on top of us.

Momma, Master, RH, and I like to hang out in the yard and watch the lightning storms.

I'm not bothered by thunder and lightning. I'm a gun dog after all and of course the Relentlessly Not Processing His Surroundings doesn't even know there is a weather event happening.

You can watch our latest storm here.

Not much action for me lately. Momma is suffering from the busy brain... again! Sigh. I even missed my agilities class this week (although we did practice weave poles in the yard - having trouble with that whole entrance thing).

At least I still got to go to day camp.

This week there was a goat there.

And a sheep!

Check out my new day camp movie here.

You can see how exhausting it is, especially with the gauntlet of doom at the beginning and end of the day.

Gosh, when I got home I just crashed. Not even the energy to get properly into the bed.

Hey! See the RH's big old foot there? Yeah, he is doing fine. Thanks again for all your nice words. Plus clever momma put a towel down on the carpet and it soaked up most of his stinky pee and then she used the Woolite Heavy Traffic carpet cleaner since it seemed to get the most votes and now the carpet is good as new.

After a restorative supper and a quick potty run outside I managed to drag my weary labraself to bed.

Day camp days rock!

Dexter done!

We're not even getting lightning as a teaser - the rain just goes around the mountains and doesn't come here.

Glad to hear the RH is doing better - we had be concerned about him.

School looks like fun - no wonder you're tired.

We are so very pleased to hear RH is doing better. Lord he has a big paw.

Anyway, that daycare thing sounds like so much fun. Rest up!

WOW! A sheep AND a goat! That is right up our alley! We want to visit and go to your Doggie Daycare place!

We are also so glad to hear that Dear Mr. Mango is doing fine and dandy. As for the thunder/lightening storms... Grandma OC Hates them, but we've never had one before a couple of days ago, and we would just bark when the house would shake! We didn't know if an elephant was out there scratching it's back or something and we should chase it off!

That camp looks like a great place Dexter and the people there really like you. We are not afraid of thunder and lightening either but we are not allowed to sit outside and watch it since our person is thunderphobic! Glad Mango and the carpet are doing fine.

Niamh & Ambrose

We've been loving our lightning storms! That's an incredible picture--out here where there are so many trees it's hard to capture it. It's odd you aren't getting rain, with each of our storms we gets buckets of it. And well needed, too! It's been such a dry year.

Day camp looks fun but exhausting! We hope your weather cools off soon. Please give the RH at love bite from us.

Our Mom doesn't like lightening, so she won't let us go out to watch it.

You have a very busy daycare, no wonder you're so tired at the end of the day.

I loved the day camp video! Especially when Dexter is doing his sideways walk down the hallway to greet you. Cabana does a sideways walk, too, and I've always wondered why. I thought it was from being on leash....

Glad the Big'Un is doing well and that the carpet cleaned up so easily!

What kind of day camp is this that there are goats and sheep there? Are you sure you're a gundog and not a farmdog?

I am glad your big bro seems to be doing just fine.

Cool light show you had there. We are expecting some over the weekend - anything to break this oppressive heat.

Pee Wee, you look happier coming down the long hall to go home than you do when you get there. But then you seem to have so much fun in there. We see a sibe there too - is he King of the Mountain or something - he is always up high.

Have a great weekend.

Storms and lightning can be interesting to watch... but it would be more fun if we all can go out to play. Your day camp place looks very interesting with so many furiends... and farm animals too. I'm glad that RH has recovered from his seizure ordeal.

That goat and sheep thing practically made Mama choke on her coffee! Dexter, you sure have a great time at camp! Great place! And Mango; glad to hear that you are doing better... We are totally amazed that you are both so good around those loud eastern storms - the slightest thunder makes me growl for hours. Beautiful photos of the lightening!

Oh Dexter, camp sounds wonderful! And thanks for sharing those awesome lightning pics!
So sorry to hear about Mango's seizure. The episode sounds a lot like what happened to me - I had a period of a couple of months where I had 3 seizures. Afterward I was very confused and upset, and ran away from my mom and dad. My vet also thinks that I have idiopathic epilepsy, but I have not had any more seizures in over a year. I hope you don't have any more either. Sending love and hugs!

Great post!!

I just went back and read about what happened to Mango! My sibe sister Abby has been on anti-seizure medication for 12 years now. She takes potassium bromide. And yes, most vets will wait to see if dogs have a second seizure before placing them on any kind of medication, just in case it was a one time thing.

One thing you can do if he does have another seizure is to grab a bag of frozen veggies or a cold washcloth and place it on his tummy. This helps cool him.

We are sure hoping for it to be nothing serious. And, dogs can live a long, happy life having epilepsy. Look at Abby. She's 15!

Take care!!!

PS from Bertie - I haven't yet ever seen lightening. Is it supposed to be scary?

Yours mama makes great videos!
You are very courageous to run outdoors with thunderstorm.
I am not afraid, but it is eerie to me.
With the last thunderstorm, I have sat with mummy and dad at night on the terrace. We have watched.

I like your camp. You certainly have a lot of fun.

Lots of love in mango, we are glad that he is better.

Kissis for you
