Dexter Day by Dexter

Momma says that part of the reason I don't post so much is because I still haven't "found my voice." I'm not sure what she means by that, but maybe if I got more blog time I would get better at it.

Because I really am a fun guy, you know, and do lots more stuff than the RH. For example, let me share the highlights from my Saturday walkie.

I always like to start out by looking really adorable. Gets everybody in the right frame of mind and increases the chances that the walk will be nice and long.

We were all set to check out the pie fair on the common, but somebody got the date wrong so all I got to do was sit in front of this sign.

To make up for missing out on lots of dropped foodables and adoring fans, we went down to the Sudbury River. WATER! Hold me back!

Unfortunately, the river run was not planned and we only had my short string and I am apparently not trustworthy off leash, especially when there is swimming involved, so it was kind of disappointing.

There is TONS of construction going on in our town. Check it out! They left their big equipment just sitting there on the side of the road.

I tried to figure out how to get in the cab, but was once again stymied by the dreaded six foot leash.

Almost home and I was forced to pose for this PSA shot to put in a good word for our pal, Chris Walsh who is running for state representative. Good luck, buddy!

Now, here is the movie version. Sure, it is over three minutes long, but unlike the RH's movies, mine has helpful subtitles, varied action and scenery (because my head doesn't take up the entire frame, duh), and a wonderful sound track. So click here to enjoy.

I also need some blogging tips. Sometimes we get comments from new friends but when we click on their name in the comment, their blogger profile has no web site. I am wondering if maybe that means their web site is through a different hosting service which makes me sad because I can't figure out how to visit them.

Dexter done!

P.S. I had to drop out of nose work school. Let's just say that once momma realized I would only have ten minutes in the ring each week which came to $3/minute and the fact that it was stressy to leave work early and rush to school AND that I have to wait in the car for my turn, well she switched me to a different class. It is called Agility Potpourri and it totally rocks! We do rally, agility, flyball, and dog dancing. Hopefully I can convince Master to video my graduation.

You look very handsome standing on that construction equipment. That 6 ft leash is very restricting. Try biting through it so you can do all the swimming you want.

Funny, when I'm reading a Dexter story, Sophie comes and reads over my shoulder. She sure does like Dexter and thinks he needs more blog time, FOR SURE! (Sorry Mango!) He is looking very handsome, in his easywalk harness. Sophie has one too. :)

And, that's too bad about the nosework class; I want to start one here, so Sophie will have something to play at too. But, Dex will LOVE the agilities and flyball class too! :)

Happy Canadian Thanksgiving from
Jen and the Canadian Black Dog Crew! :)

We have 6ft leashes here too!
Mom says it's because Leroy is a dork and doesn't always have his listening ears on:)

Looks like it was a great Noseventure!

My Mom thinks that your Mom was right about taking you out of Nose Work school. All that sitting in the car and waiting part, blech. Sounds like you'll have much more fun in your new class.

Yup, we wanna put in our vote for the different classy too! That sounds like fun, and we think your nose is already kinda cute and doesn't need more work.

Dexter Dude - nice job on your posting skills! I think you are doing fine. What a nice walk you had, you look super cool on the tractors!

PeeS. tell your mom that those people dont have websites in their profile cause they clicked the option to not share their profile - when our mom was a newbie she accidently did that till someone emailed her and told her :)

Dexter, we think you have found your voice but that Mango just has a louder, deeper voice which is why he gets to blog more often.

Nose class sounds like a ripoff and we are glad you Mom found you a different more fun sounding class.

We loved the walkie video...PIE! It's next weekend. Tell your Mom to make a note of it!

Hi Dexter,
I'm one of those people who leave comments, and I don't have a blog. I've always thought that if you clicked on my name it would go to my e-mail, BUT NNOOOO. I just realized it goes to my profie which I don't really have. While I love Miss Creekhiker's blog, I am not her (though she's a friend in real life) and she's not the only bloggie I follow. I really enjoy you two boys and your adventures! And I'm sorry if my lack of computer savvy caused confusion.

achieve1dream said...

I think some people don't have websites/blogs and that the only reason they create a blogger profile is because you have to have an account to comment (well at least on my blog I have it set so only registered users can comment).

Thank you for sharing the video. I love watching draft horses in harness especially when they are in perfect step. It's so flashy and pretty. I'd really love to teach Chrome to pull a cart someday. Just have to figure out how to get a cart hehe. :)

Dexter, you had a great walk even though the pie thing wasn't happening, but we sure hope the RH doesn't see this video - not so sure he is going to be happy with the Momma. We understand, the Momster likes each of us for different reasons.

We get those comments too and wish we could return the comment, but you just do the best you can. One of ours, rottrover, told us they don't have a blog.

Have a great week.

Your comments on the video always crack me up! I think you have a great voice!

If you find out how to get to the blogs of people who don't have a blog listed when the comment, would you let me know? It's so frustrating!

Oh Dexter, you bring back fond memories of our old yellow lab, Jake. Your new class sounds super cool and I think RH and Momma need to give you more blog time.

As far as the commenters, some may be people who don't have their own blogs, yet still like to stalk, sorry, read the blogs. I have one such follower who happens to be a good friend. She may even be reading this comment of mine! She used to text me or email me to comment on my blog. After months of begging and pleading I convinced her to "go public" and comment ON my blog and she has, but if you click on her profile, nothing comes up.

Did that make any sense Dexter?

Agilities is sooooooo over rated...and so is swimming...and so is flyball....and jumping through hoops. Earth dogging is more my cup of tea.

OKays, I see you has your blog question answered...my job here is no longer needed.

Woo - Dex, a pie event? Where do we sign up?

Ah, yes, the world of Blogger can not stand those of us who do not use Blogger. Sigh. We have tried to actually list our blog using Blogger, but it does not really accept that. So we try to make sure people can see the website and hope they can navigate from there. Oh well.

Too bad you were restricted with the short string!

Dexter! My human brother Ryan saw a sign in Virginia that said, 'HURT CONGRESS'. He doesn't know if that's a name of someone running for Congress or a suggestion to voters about what to do to Congress! It's good that your sign is more clear.

Drools,
Thor

Pee Ess, I did not go to Virginia. I had to stay home and babysit for Jeffrey, who is only 23 and evidently not smart enough to stay home alone.

Yep. Those 6 ft. leashes are a tad 'restrictive'. And funny, Mom is trying to figure out what to do with us in winter (i.e. snowshoeing, letting us off leash while they go cross-country skiing, skijoring, etc., etc.) and she keeps running into the same problem of us "not being trustworthy" off leash. What's up with that? Anyhoo, we see that Pie Fest is NEXT weekend, so make sure your Mom's got it on her calendar so you can go back and check out all the dropped foodables....

We love that you start off by reminding us how very handsome you are - all sleek, black and shiny!
We confess we are quite taken with you.
Don't tell Mango because we think he really adores our barrel shaped bodies and little legs.
We hate being attached to a leash too - it really is too bad that these humans cannot learn a bit of give and take.

Glad to see you blogging again, Dex. We always visualize you sitting at the computer with your eyeglasses half-way down your nose, a professorial smile on your face, tail a-waggin'. Nice action in the field trip with the Dexter Momma, trying to show her all the wonders of the natural world.

We're one of those who don't have a blog. We finally got our mama to go on Google for an account because one can't leave comments on most blogs without some kind of acceptable account. We also thought a click on our names would lead to our email account. Mama got us our own email, but we never get any :( Mama is very technologically challenged, so I don't know if we'll ever get our own blog. We have so much fun stalking all of you, though! So we're very glad so many of you have technologically accomplished moms and/or dads who also own & know how to use a digital movie making machine.

Hey Dexter buddy.. you DO have a wonderful voice.. I have said it many times.. You should have a day to post every week. It would give Mango.. a chance to do more of his contemplations... hehehe
Nice pics today too!!!
You and Mango BOTH just tickle me.
BTW... Puddles and I got an email question Re: the blogging question that you posed today.
I have also had commentors that I could not.. "find". Pawsonally, I find them very flattering. They CARE what is said in our blogs. They are INTERESTED in us. I am thinkin that they KNOW we are TICKLED that they left a comment for us... otherwise we would have deleted their words. I look at them as being WONDERFUL furends. I know that I have at least 8 READERS who have NEVER commented on my blog... butt see me and talk about posts I have put up. They say the LOVE the blog... butt don't WANT to comment. I think that is grrrreat tooo. I'm just sayin'.

Hello there Dexter,

What fun walkies! So many things to see and do ... too bad for the short leash.

Our 'Dexter' has been up to alot of his own adventures too - the last, left the Chief in mud, having to rescue the boy who decided his legs were temporarily 'out of order' He's in the dog house as we paw this ...

Hi Dexter, we always hear you even though it is softer. We like your voice too as you're always sweet and kind. It's good to see you blogging again, we do hope you can come often in the near future.

I guess you know Mango well that he's big and noisy so you always remain quieter and calmer therefore, your momma will have a better day. You're such a sweet fellow!

I do have the same problem like you that I see some people in my comment box but I can't see them in the blogger world. It's really frustrating because I really want to know them!!!

Hi Dexter,

I was snoozing at mum's feet as she read to me about your walk but you got my full attention from the word PIE. I hope you get to return next week for PIE with a long leash. One of those retractable ones is great as our mums think they still have control, but we know better because we can get far away and pretend not to hear their commands because we are too busy doing other stuff at the fun end of the leash.

Woofs,
Riley

The Life of Riley said...

PS tell your mum those retracty leashes are better for her too. I saw her post about her elbow troubles - my mum used to have the something similar, but found using a flexible leash her last dog meant that dog couldn't pull or jar her elbow so abruptly (and undo the work her physiotherapist had done on her arm, elbow, shoulder, etc) because she could let the dog wander, and use her thumb to lock the leash or voice to keep him at an appropriate distance, so now that is what I go walkies with - allternating healing beside her and sniffing all around where I want.

Dexter - Bummer about the pies! But looks like you had an eventful day anyway. We love hearing about your adventures as well as the RH!

PeeS - Have you sent that bloggy question to Frankie? He and Puddles will be answering lots of bloggly questions just like that one - so send it in and maybe you'll get a good solution. We'd love to know the answer to that one also.
