Alert readers might recall that we posted a tutorial movie on how to speak Boston and invited our friends to teach us how to speak like them. Well, so far, the only taker was the divine Miss Puddles who provided a handy training manual for speaking Southern.
So I give you, Mango Momma Speaks Southern.

P.S. For reasons unclear to me, Momma likes to try and talk like people who are not her, so if any other readers want to challenge her mentals, just provide a guide to speaking like you and she'll have a go. Of course not too late to make your own Boston speak video.

In my part of Scotland, we talk a distinctive kind of a Scots dialect known as Doric. Just a few basics. 'Fit like?' means 'and how are you today'. Boys and girls are 'loons' and 'quines'. In general, the 'wh' sound comes our as an F, eg 'Far' means 'where', 'fit' means what. 'Furryboots ye fae?' means 'whereabouts do you come from?' A general rule is that, if you can understand what someone is saying, they're probably not speaking Doric. Does that help?

Every time we see ya paw out something about Mischka, in our heads we hear OurGirl saying, " моя мишка" It sounds something like: moya mishka! That's what she said when she first saw her very first teddy bear ... she was still in Россия at the time ... and from then on that bear's name was (and still is) Mishka. Who. By the way. Is in college. That's gonna be one smart bear (as if he wasn't already smart.)

I think that you should have had a warning before viewing the video, like too funny don't be drinking when watching this, but nooooo, so I will tell you why..
We waited like 87 hours for the video to load, we have sloooow dialup. Anyway, Mom had the volume up way high, and as we waited she was drinking water, and the video just came on, she was in mid swallow and I was sitting on her lap. Well, needless to say I took a bath! The video started the words came out, Mano was licking and Mom laughed and coughed and sneezed all at the same time. I was soaking wet and Mom just kept laughing.

I think your American accent is really COOL!!!!!! And it is very well done... My dad says he will never understand why Germans have to pronounce every letter and make nouns that are too long to fit on one page... My dad and I both think Germans are strange anyway but at least I can speak and understand it - he can't!
