Dexter's Toy Review

Scuby posted the exciting story of her return to her estate after a week in the wild woods of Iowa. You can read it here.

About a month ago the nice people from Kong sent us a peemail asking if we would like to review their latest toy. Sure. Who doesn't want more toys, right?

Here's our test drive fun times movie. Those Kong people only sent us ONE sample so I was forced to share. No worries. I can be big about these things (unlike some greedy bully cry baby momma's dogs whose names I will not mention).

This is a close up of the toy. It is billed as being extra sturdy.

They even have a diagram of its insides and words that say the double knot inside gives it a realistic feel. I found that kind of far fetched. Realistic as in it feels just like a stuffie with knots of rope inside?

Questionable packaging words aside, this is one swell toy.

First of all, it is quite satisfying to nommy on. And since it doesn't have stuffing it should hold up for dogs who are less respectful of their toys than me and the RH.

Oh, look at Mango "playing." Hehehe.

Here's how it is done. ZOOM!

I didn't even hear those disturbing ripping sounds when momma played tug with the RH. This activity can often result in instant stuffie decapitation.

So we're both going to give this toy paws up. Yup. It's sort of like a kong and a stuffie and a rope toy all in one. Put this one on your holiday list.

After a few seconds of actual movement, the RH opted to bring our kong inside and add it to the toy basket.

No problem for me... time for super tennis ball action! Sure that new toy was OK, but nothing is a tennis ball... NOTHING!

Guess those exercise ball workouts are really paying off. Look at me sky!

Now, am I not the handsomest labradude ever?

It must be true, because momma says it all the time.

Dexter done!

P.S. Know what this is?

Crop circle?

Nope, just a Relentlessly Huge melted spot from where he was "playing."

That's cuz the RH is so HOT HOT HOT!

but we are one handsome labradude...

that toy looks fun. i wanna get one for my doofuses and see if they can destroy it!

Great toy test/review :) Interestin that they put a knot in the poor things tum tum. Hmmm a toy with it's stomach all tied up in knots ;) hee hee

Luved the honky tonk tune :)

Mom thought that was pretty nifty that Mango put the toy in the basket. Mine are strewn all over. Some in the yard, some on the lanai, some in the house... :)

And Dexter, well your Momma's right. You are one handsome Labradude.

Waggin at ya,

Hey Dexter, of course you are one handsome dude. No doubt about it. If you and Mango can't destroy the new toy, that is one I want to get for Tyler. He destroys absolutely everything. Looks like Mango is one warmed blooded fella. Take care boys, love Carol.

Sophie wants you to know Dexter that you ARE one handsome labradude! ;)

Looks like a very fun toy! I'll have to check that one out to see if it'll inspire the terrier in the house to tug with me more!

So glad you let RH test out the new toy - I thought he was gonna cry in that video!
It looks like a great new item - maybe Sandy Paws will bring me one.

How awesome to get to be a toy tester for Kong. Lucky! It looks like you both had a blast playing with it. Does that mean it is extra durable?

Happy Monday!

That looks like a fun toy! We're going to add it to our Christmas list! Thank you for the review, guys!

Love ya lots

Niamh said...

You are a seriously athletic labradude Dexter! Very impressed how that toy held up during the running around and the tug. Maybe if we get one, Ambrose won't be able to destroy it in 2 seconds.

Your friends,
Niamh & Ambrose

That looks like a toy Morgan could really sink her teeth into, thus leaving my Christmas hedgeamahog alone! I love how you ran all over with it, and then once you got your stink all over it, you finally gave it to the RH! Tee hee!

Erika said...

Wow that does look like a cool toy but Koda absolutely agrees that nothing is like a tennis ball.

Respect da Kong! Seriously, destuffin' is too much fun! Nows withs dat being dork brudder prefers his toys unstuffed...gasp.

*shake*... *quiver*... We can barely leave a comment about the informative toy review because we're so freaked out about the cat (alien) crop circle. We're not betting Smushies, but if we were we'd wager to say it was left by Scuby.

Stay safe, don't go near that crop circle.

Hmmm, is the knot in the belly supposed to feel like bones or something? Interesting. Great action packed review. It's disturbing to us that we are just about the same size as this toy...

hahaha, a Mango patch!

Your new toy looks so cool, I want one! It always takes new thing ages to get to England though!

are you sure that isn't one of groucho's crop circles? hmm/. We loved the video. especially when Dexter drops the toy and runs when the MAngo approaches for closer inspection. ahahahah

Kong is gonna make 87 bazillion green papers on this pawduct since you BOTH have it Paws UP.

Barbara said...

That's a neat Kong. I think they mean "realistic" like the ropes feel like it's inside skeleton!! EWWWWW!

You are one rocking labradude...what a body!!

Sue said...

If the toy stood up to you two tough guys, maybe my pack of rough, tough Porties would like it, too. We'll have to speak to Santa about it.

Fun toy, Dexter! I think Riley would destroy it though...she's quite the toy cannibal. I love the Mango spot in the grass there. You can even see where his legs were!

Kitty+Coco said...

BAHAHA! Love the Mango crop circle. Mango can sure melt some hearts (and grass). Sure, Pee Wee thinks it is because he is full of hot air, but we believe it is because he is a hunk of burning love.

Marjie said...

Do you guys think my boys will play even more if I ask the fat dude in the red suit for a Kong/rope toy? Momma says it's time for us to write our letters to the guy.

Great sky action there, Labradude! But what's wrong with making a good melted spot? It's the dog equivalent of "snow angels", which are kinda hard to make if you don't have long arms and legs.

brooke said...

That looks like a fun toy! I dont know about the double knot being realistic feeling, but ropes and no stuffing sounds perfect!

Hound Girl said...

Thanks for the review on this toy, I will add this to Haylies list of toys to try... she rips everything! love to labs xoxox

Corbin said...

Hm, I will most definitely put that on my lists! I'll put it up to the ripping test!

That's an RH Hot Spot:) Mom is looking for some new toys for Ciara's birthday - she might like one of those too. It sure looks like Mango liked it. We love to see the big guy when he acts like a puppy.

We agree though you can't really beat a good tennis ball..

Go Dexter! My Panda would have to agree with you that NOTHING beats a tennis ball, but this Kong thingie looks like it may stand up to her jaws of steel. No stuffie is safe with her! Santa will look into it. Thanks for the review and also the link to Scuby's return! Ann TBL. Hey Momma! Thanks for stopping by today!

That looks like a great toy; we would need something tough too. I do like that picture of Dexter mid-leap.

Dex, you got serious game! Impressive display of athletic proweress! We're glad to see for your sake that you have adopted the old adage about discretion and valor, and you wisely don't contest toy possession with the RH. It's great to see RH moving so well and feeling good!

We're both renowned Destroyers of Stuffies, but we may have to give the non-stuffed Kong a try. Thanks for the review.

Hey Dex...
You must be real famous to be sent toys to try out!!!....mmmm....but then we knew it, didn't we?!
I think the best toy in your basket is the basket itself. I'd make mincemeat outta that one!
Happy playing and testin'...

Yo Dex. Nothing wrong in playing while laying down, if you ask me ! Can be very exciting indeed!

My momma says you most certainly are a handsome labradude... Must be a Momma-thing to say stuff like that...

I would love to have a toy like that but my mum says that is a waste of money. They never give Staffies test toys but I think they should - if something says "Staffie Proof" on it it would surely sell best!

Interesting toy! I think they should make a toy called Funballs and you should get a cut of the profits. Mango's Funballs? I would buy it!
I see that you still have Moose's Moose in your toy basket! You two are very respectful of toys!

JackDaddy said...

I'll have to look for that new Kong toy. Unless it has eyes. Because if it has eyes, it can be torn open if Jack gets hold of it! :)

That toy looks great - especially if it can hold up to a Labradude and Relentlessly Huge assault!

I have to admit that it's a close call between my R and Dexter for the most handsome black lab!

Nice toy. We find many monkeys in nature with knotted ropes inside. No, wait, we mean that our apes are snotty dopes.

Ethel agrees with Dexter. Fancy shmancy toys are ok but nothing beats the old fashioned tennis ball.

Wonder if we can convince Grammy to get us one of those toys? She says that maybe we couldn't destroy one like that. Guess she doesn't remember that the last Kong she got us (a BIG one) disappeared! If you can't destuff or destroy, then you must HIDE or how will you get new toys?!

You truly ARE hot stuff aren't you, Mango! :) The CCC

Honey the Great Dane said...

Gotta agree, Dexter - there is NOTHING like a tennis ball!

But that toy looked pretty cool - wow, Kongs have gone snazzy, huh? In my day, they were just basic red rubber things!!
