Time to Dexercize!

In my quest to whip this pack into shape, I took the liberty of purchasing this gift pack for the DOH from a place called The Firm.

Now momma has had dealings with these firm ladies in the past. She usually uses HBO words when watching their movies and refers to them as "skinny bitches" among other things which I suppose makes them kind of rated R in this house. Like me, they manage to maintain a cool and supportive demeanor even as momma hurls the cuss words at them.

So when I saw their new series I just had to get it. It has 13 disks, each with a short, 20 minute work out. Now you might say, "Hey Dexter, 20 minutes is not really long enough." But friends, 20 minutes is greater than zero so I consider it money well spent. Plus, when momma is just sitting around I can say, "Look at the clock. Think about it. In less than half an hour you will be back in your comfy chair, so get to work."

I even pointed out that she could watch the movies in the dog cave by putting them in the computer rather than venturing into the basement where she had previously, in the distant past, engaged in the aerobic activities.

Still, she requires my strict coaching to keep her on program.

I made her break out the tape measure and squeeze it around all her parts including her jolly bottom. The firm ladies promised that if I make her do the exercises and at least try to eat better that the dimensions will reduce after 30 days. I'll let you know.

Now, how about some DEXERCIZE for real? Given that I have been on an unexpected hiatus from agilities and real class starts in a few weeks, momma took me to a funballs agilities run through class.

Wow! Her handling skills sure are rusty. But check out this movie. Yeah, its kind of long, but there are a couple of golden doodles, a wee little terrier, and a fancy border collie kind of doggie in addition to me (note that I did NOT slow down the speed of the movie for the giant golden doodle - he was just very methodical).

If you fast forward to 1:50 you will see my one good run.

Dexter done!

P.S. From Momma
ARG! Contacts were non-existent and the right entry on the weave poles seems to have totally evaporated. Mercifully edited out my use of bad HBO words when we missed the weave poles one too many times. As for the teeter, well, Dex has never done well on the low teeter (which doesn't excuse consistently calling it "walkit" instead of "seesaw"). My cueing is too slow as well. Poor little guy. Even though we just do agility for fun, I do like to get it right. We'll get in shape once we're back with our old trainer. Hopefully by the end of January.

You go get your momma fit!!! I'm sure she's gonna do a good job if you keep nagging her about exercising, although I personally don't see why she needs to get any slimmer like those HBO girls!!!
I enjoyed your runs a lot too!

Carol from Down Under said...

Dexter, you and Mango are the ones to get your Momma fit. The exercise discs can only be used for one thing. Coasters! Tell your Momma, after activities with you and Mango she can sit and relax on the lounge, drink in hand with a very useful coaster to rest her drink on. Ahhh. Good boy Dexter. No worries, love Carol.

We think your momma does NOT need the exercise DVD's - so why don't you send them to OUR mom who is physically fit - challenged???!
And Dex, you did WAY more than I ever could on the agility!!

Wild Dingo said...'re so lucky to even have a trainer. we don't have one here and Loki is going STIR crazy. he's depressed. i'm afraid he may start drinking...

i think you guys looked great out there on the agilities.

fun blooper reel:) hey dex, maybe your momma should use some yummy carrots as the prize--just sayin.

What a great thing you are doing Dex...we've tried being our DOHs personal trainer before, but both of them are too stubborn to listen! Anyways, what a good run you got in there! It looks like a lot of fun!

Clap! Clap! Clap! Woof! Woof! Woof!
Dexter buddy, we are most impressed! You have one impressive training facility there and YOU have an impressive trainer too! Congratulations on your agilities.
We had a good laugh at that Golden doodle - Both his/her tail and her head are visible on either side of the tunnel at a particular moment, it seems....that is one Loooooooong doggie!
Anyway, congrats to your momma on some really hard work. I hope that I can be like you someday...
ps Thank you so much for the Christmas card - we were delighted to receive it, really delighted!

I love watching the agilities videos!! Good job Dexter and remember sometimes everything gets a little rusty if you haven't done it for awhile. But, it was obviously coming back to you!! GOOD JOB!!

Spikey and I went to a weave clinic the other night- yeehaw, he has great entries but the rest is a mess. So there you go, things can fall apart anytime you haven't done it for awhile!!!

Have fun working on the agility and the areobics... those are both things everyone in this house should be working on!!!! :)

Wooos Dexter-dude! I loved the video, nothing like seeing what it is like in real life, for all of those who just watch the top dogs on the tv....
Mom can't wait to get back to school, we do not start for another week yet..., I am staying home now though, and Mom just goes and teaches, but I get to go occasionally and play too.

We are sure you will get your pack in shape with all this activity. We thought that the best part was when you skidded to a stop on the pause table. It looked like you were going to fly over it but you held it together. Good job.

I think you should have gotten her
Sweatin with the Labradude instead. I am sure she would have liked it MUCH Better than the scrawny bitch thingy. I'm just sayin.

Good luck getting the DOH to do the exercise video things. Mom has been saying something about how she has to start riding her bike on the trainer again to get ready for spring, but so far all I see is a lot of talk and very little riding. (Of course she's skiing 5 days a week, but she'd going downhill - and then rides a chairlift uphill - what sort of exercise is THAT?!?) We think the goldendoodle was quite handsome even if a bit methodical (and a wee bit clueless). He's better behaved than we are. Of course, I think the mice in this house might be better behaved than we are, but that's all Abby's fault! She just makes me look bad. ;-)

Awesome video!!!!

Fun video! I had always thought Sis might enjoy agility, but... that's on hold right now. I too use HBO words while exercising, especially when Sissy causes me to "lose" the concentration game on the Wii because one has to sit VERY still, and having a strong basset nose shoved up and under an arm at rest is a movement the Wii considers unacceptable...

C.l.o.v.e.r. said...

Hi dudes! What a thoughtful gift for your momma! I hope she can get even a little bit of enjoyment out of it. I like to watch my mom when she is trying to exercise and yelling at the tv too. Hehe.

Pearl said...

Dex, I think I need to have you out here to Okie-homa. My momma needs an exercise coach!!

Also, please tell Mango that I have been thinking about him and I have been saying VERY bad HBO words to the seizure monster butthead.

I think both Dexter and the Momma did awesome at agility practice! Working with "The Firm" with an audience, should help agility, too!

I hope that picture in your sidebar keeps the @#$%^&!!!@#$%^&*!!! seizure monster away!

This is awesome! I hate those dastardly weaves. Grrrrr. You guys did them so well, though, despite a few missed entries. Good work! I need to get a move on, clearly.

It looks like you had a good time anyway, despite some muttered HBO words. Isn't that all a part of the joy of training? ;-)

Jan's Funny Farm said...

You did good for being out of practice, Dex. And it's really nice of you to care so much about your mom you're going to make her sweat for her health.

Mango, we saw a notice on the Cat Blogosphere that you were having seizures.......we are here to let you know that we are purraying for you. xxxxxxx

Hey! My momma knows those Firm ladies, too! And she doesn't like them any better than your momma does. But she says that they really do what they promise so she puts up with them. She also found this other lady named Cathe than makes her say even MORE HBO words than the Firm ladies, if you can imagine.

Anyway, I thinks it was a Most Thoughtful pressie and I bet your momma appreciates your coaching.

Dexter, my mom said she's glad you are over there coaching your mama instead of here coaching her, but I think she might need your guidance! BOL! I am tired after just watching all your agilities! You never stop going, dude!

We so enjoy watching the agility runs and Mom so wishes she could do that too with either TD or Ciara. Dexter has such enthusiasm, we thought he was going to slide right off that stand. Keep up the great work.

That giant golden doodle was kind of mastiff-like in his movements, wasn't he? Your good run was astonishing! Now I need a nap, it was so exhausting to watch that!

And I'd be careful about heaping on the shape-up insults on Momma. What if she decides the whole house is going to take up eating lettuce and celery? You guys would be S-O-L!

The Boston Lady said...

Dexter good job on your video! Please tell momma that using HBO words is the only way to exercise effectively, plus by using them she is burning extra calories not to mention the calories burned while hating on the firm girls. This is all good... Ann

Wow, way to whip everyone into shape for the new year. Everyone's eaten soooo many sweets that we all need to jazzercise or whatever. Here's a good motto: Break a sweat...not wind! Tell Mango to point it the other way!

Happy 2011!

OK, you KNOW I have to weigh in here (all 24.5 lbs of me). Dex, I like your thinking. The tire is ALWAYS optional, so I totally understand you going around it. I myself consider the AF optional, so much easier to go around than over, ya know? And my momma has the "bend-over" disease too, our trainer is always telling her to stand up! But you guys were not nearly as funny as the guy trying to stuff his doodle into the tunnel (sorry if that sounds kinda weird) - that was total BOL material!!!

Happy New Year!!

I've been kept away from my computer for a while but I just saw that Mango had a seizure. I really hope that he's feeling better... I had an epileptic dog once, and it was scary at first but then he spontaneously got better. Kinda like a miracle! I hope for the same for Mango.

And, believe it or not, Mango beamed out to Colorado, and I saw him hiking on one of our local trails. K, R, and Mango went to the local bar (the Pioneer) and had a bunch of beers. Don't worry - I made Mange sober up before beaming home :)

rottrover said...

Dexter, could you please try to look like you're enjoying yourself a little more?! You're just so blasé about everything :-)

Like someone else said, it's really fun to watch "regular dogs" learning agility. All the humans and dogs seem to be having fun and cheering each other on. We only ever see the "finished product" which looks impossible for mere mortal doggies to do.

Sure it was fun to watch you doing the agilities and that golden doodle sure took his time, right?

Wow, Dex! Superlab agilities! Looks like you'd been spending too much time coaching RH and the DOH, so you had all that pent up energy when you finally got to strut your stuff. Balance, my boy, balance. A little PT for the RH, a little agilities for Dex; a little PT for the DOH, some more agilities for Dex. Gotta keep on the RH to help him get/stay healthy. Mama isn't able to do the human agilites stuff like your momma [that's her story and she's sticking to it], but she says all those skinny b*&^hes are airbrushed, whatever that is.

We are patiently waiting for the reveal on all the transformations the Master is creating in the basement. Is Mango Momma getting a new Exercise & Zumba Studio down there?

Happy New Year, dear RH & Dex [and Mango Momma & Master, too].

Peewee, Darling...aren't you pushing Mama a bit too hard? Kisses to you all and we're hoping the RH is free from that seizure monster...

Mumsie's been waaaaaay too busy with week with the hooman kiddies around...we'll be back to normal soonest...
