Dexter's Winter of 2011 Snow Update

More and more snow and freezing rain and sleet too. The snow banks around the deck are over a meter high!

I fear my funballs time in the yard is now under supervision only as I was caught attempting to make an exit over the fence. In fact, there are lots of parts of the fence temptingly close for big adventures.

Even I, Dexter, athletic labradude, am no longer enjoying running in the yard other than where there are paths. It is decidedly unpleasant. Perhaps if it actually stops snowing this afternoon I can tempt momma into a walkie.

Momma made a little snow movie. Nobody moving very fast today. The sound is kind of funny because the freezing rain was bouncing on the flashy microphone. How unpleasant.

Keep your paws crossed that this will all get cleared overnight so that I can go to camp tomorrow. We got snowed out last week and I am INSANE to run around and have some real action for a change.

Dexter done!

Dexter! You are growing Snow Mountains right there on your Estate! Poor thing.....deprived of Funballs! I really feel for you, dude.

That would be totally funballs! We'd sink in there and mom wouldn't find us until spring... uh.. on second thought, that might not be such a good idea!

Wow, that's a crap load of snow! We're not jealous of you one bit. We have rain and no snow...and it's 70 degrees here today. We love the part of the video where Momma tells the RH to move his big butt!

Wow. Serious wow. We've not been so big on the snow front lately, but we've got plenty of cold (it was -16 when Mom took us out this morning; it has warmed up to a balmy -10.. Mom is grumbling about having to put our coats and boots on us...). And a meter stick? Last time I checked, we hadn't switched to the metric system. (Although if you have, it might explain why the judges' adventures in your basement haven't turned out so well - metric tools and the dogs who don't know how to use them...)

Good luck with the snow - maybe you could get the RH to act as a snowplow for you...

MY Mamma calls me Bubba too! I would've been perfect for the good ol' boy contest but Mamma didn't get her stuff together soon enough. We might just do one for fun though. Why do our Ma's say we got big butts?

That is just crazy insane. The Momster would be a wreck here if our snow piles were that high and that close to the fence - we would be out of OP so fast!!! As much as we love our snow, we sure hope the sun melts all that away for you soon and you don't get any more. Stay safe.

Wowzers!! That IS a heap of snow. The way it's piled next to the fence does look like a great escape route. Never thought of that before. Cool music!

Man! Way too much snow!
Hopefully Punxsutawney Phil's prediction is right and spring will come early!

Marjie said...

Sorry, buddy, but you got clobbered. We didn't get but about 1". Momma is greatly relieved. She turned up the heat and prepared giant thermoses of hot beverages and found the oil lamps to scare off the "power outage" monster, and it looks like she was successful.

We have it too. It was fun at first, but now that we spent all day shoveling, not so much. The only positive thing is they canceled school for the second day in a row, which they haven't canceled a day of school for 12 years! That tells you it's bad.

houndstooth said...

We feel your pain! You actually made us feel a little better after the almost two feet of snow we got yesterday. At least the groundhog didn't see her shadow!

Jed and Abby in MerryLand said...

Wow! Going from a 6 foot to a 6 inch fence is quite a temptation. Resist, young Dex. You could drown in that stuff. We'd be really surprised if all that snow disappeared over night. If it did, you'd probably have a flooded basement and you know that would upset Momma & Master. Maybe you can slog your way to the Workshop and run zoomies around the inside?

Jed & Abby

Now THAT is a whole BUNCH of snow!!! We here in Upstate NY have not been getting our usual dose of mega snow...but we aren't missing it too much either :) Try to stay warm and hope it melts soon so you can do ZOOMIES! xoxo Chloe and LadyBug

Great snow paths! That is exactly how my yard looks all winter. Every time it snows I get out there and shovel. My dogs are far too little to navigate deep snow without a path. Also great for pickup of poopsicles!

Loved Mango's cool stroll thru the snow, he is so chill! And Dexter, super fun to see him romping through the snow.

I am sure you will be ready for Winter to turn the corner, you have had more than your share of it this year.... xoxo

Wow - that is a serious quantity of snow. Weird that while everyone else is getting snow, our snow has been melting because we have had rain - lots and lots of rain.

Scruffy, Lacie and Stanley's Place said...

Holy Crap.

Firstish...is it really a meter stick? Mumsie hasn't seen one of those since science lab. We have a yard stick here cuz we're not so COS MO POLLY TIN.

Secondly, if Peewee did jump over the fence with Momma watching, do you think you could video her chasin' him? I'm thinkin' that could be very entertaining runnin' in that snow. We thought Mumsie was gonna have a heartie attack last year walkin' in it...and doesn't it stink when the OTHER DOG comes north bound down your south bound path??

Yeesch,

Beast

I think LL Bean sells snow shoes.
