The Hatchling Arrives

In order that I might enjoy my meditations without being concerned about the hatchling, I cleverly posted an action animated flashy over the nest. Sure enough, early this morning, there was motion!

I am convinced that there is Beastie DNA in there as the game little tyke was having trouble extracting his robust hind quarters from the egg.

But he was out soon enough and ready for action. Such grace! Now, THAT's my boy!

Aw, look, already walking.

Say hello to papa!

NO NO NO! Evil Pea keeps trying to eat my spawn.

It's OK, little yellow dude, the Mango is here for you.

Perhaps you would feel safer inside my jaws of doom, er, I mean, soft and comforting jowls.

Look at him. He loves stuffies as much as I do.

Whoops, slow down there. Don't want to overdo it on your first day out.

Sigh, this parenting is exhausting.

Ready for an action movie of baby's first day? Here you go.

OK, yes, I did show off my lipstick in the movie, but it's all Mango, it's all good, right?

Mango Man! Oh yeah!

P.S. Hey! You know how sometimes the YouTube recommends related movies? Well check this one out all about ME that came up on my hatchling video (WARNING - LOUD).

Mango buddy...
You never fail to brighten my day!
Good luck with all the parenting. At least it looks like the little thing doesn't need nappies.
Sending lotsabarks,

That hatchling is tiny. He is not even as big as your paw Mango! We hope that Uncle Pee Wee does not damage him.

BOL! A fantastic hatching video, Mango! I'm sure you'll be a great father of that fellow. Just one question here, will this little yellow dude grow up as big as you one day?
Guess you're exhausted now! Parenting is never easy!

OMD, that hatchling looks NOTHING like you, he's so tiny! BOL, good luck with the parenting!

Good luck with the hatch thing. Did he come with the fishing line attached, and is the other end still attached to the Beastie?

That hatchlings sure gonna have a difficult life!

Yay! Congrats papa Mango! Please be careful though. You have to be gentle with fragile newborns. He's cute . . . I think he has your eyes . . .

Also in response to Mango Momma's comment on my blog I just wanted to mention that the reason my feet aren't in the picture is because I switched to some heavy duty foot gear (boots) when I went out to the pasture lol. I know if he stepped on my foot it would still hurt, but the boots should protect from further damage. Of course he didn't do anything, but I am being super protective of my poor little toe. Thank you for the reminder though, because I was tossing around the idea of going biking today . . . :D

Are you sure there is only one of them? for a little guy, and a new born, that thing was EVERYWHERE! I'm worried, for you, for the planet.

And now I am going to be singing that mango song all day! I need some audio bleach!

Ina in Alaska said...

We love your film and the toe tapping music. The little Hatchling reminds us of the old Japanese Godzilla movies. He or she would look great travelling in that yellow Mercedes over at my blog!

And this weekend I think I heard about a Mango Collection of clothing over at JC Penneys!!! Yikes!!!

sagechronicles said...

Ya know, Mango, what you're in for, don't you? Years of enforcing that parental guidance. At least you probably won't have to change diapers!!

Raymond and Busby said...

The hatchling had a busy day. The music in that video was some of our favorite ever. Dexter is not a very nurturing Uncle.

Scruffy, Lacie and Stanley's Place said...

Oh my...Lacie wipes her eyes and hands a kleenex to Mumsie who is crying openly...pawsibly for different reasons...

Oh Mango...isn't our son?? adorable?? He is remarkably agile to get atop the weave poles on his first day OUT...!! That pic where you look poised to eat him was awful. Don't do that again. That Gussie is very observant...the string does still seem to be attached to me...perhaps it's an apron string?

Is he going to go to day care with Pea? Oh my...I hope this isn't all too much for him. He does have a fairly large rump. Not my side of the family.

I'm sending some nappies for him. It's best to start early with the housebreaking.

We have been MIA for so long that we had to read several posts to catch up on Mango-Dexter news. There was a LOT - poor Pea with the Lyme Disease - that's not at all funny - hope you are feeling lots better by now. And Mango? You and Lacey seem to have produced an amazing babeh! What a good Daddy you are, protecting your spawn from Dexter! Love these posts and movies - also the MM certificate - thank you!

Hmmmmm I am thinking that maybe the hatchling is a baby dinodoggie! It could indeed be your spawn Mango

Sunshade said...

Wow what gene you and Lacie must have to product such an interesting baby that needed HATCHING!!! I saw that you were very protective of it and kept secured it in your jaw of death whenever threats were around. That was a busy first day for the new hatchling, thanks for sharing!!

Sorry we haven't been able to read the blogs as often but its great to finally catch up. Have the seizure monster been leaving you along???

ps. thank you Mango mom for your advise on the Squaire Dog website, we have done as you suggested!

Love nibbles,

Well,! Yes, that's the word we were looking for. Congratulations. I had no idea that Mangos started out hatching from eggs and being so small and yellow, but you learn something new every day. I have had puppies in the past, so if you need any parenting tips, just come to me. How's the nursing going? I'd think that might be a challenge for a boy dog, but then there's a lot about this that I didn't know before.

Someone cut the umbilical cord!!

Congratulations looks just like...well, congratulations anyway!

Sue said...

You have an interesting son or daughter there, Mango. It really seems to get around. Did it sleep thru the night? Samba says she wishes her pups had hatched out of eggs. So much easier.

Congrats on your spawn, Mango. So is this one of those arrangements where the Mom takes off and leaves Dad with all the work? Hopefully you don't have to nurse him.

Have you named the little guy yet? Seems like he might still have his umbilical cord attached:)

We're speechless. (Which doesn't happen much around here, BTW.) Uh, congratulations! I guess. I mean, if you are going to claim that thing as your spawn, we aren't going to argue with you. I hope that you are able to keep Uncle Pea from eating him/her (? A name would be helpful, as 'Mango's Spawn' just doesn't sound right...) before s/he's old enough to protect him/herself (see... a gender and name would be really helpful).

We're tired just watching all that high level parenting. However, we've noticed that you seem to be suffering from a complete lack of snow. Dude. It's the first day of spring, you should be getting snow, like we are! ;-)

Who put the string around the little gent's neck? If you are not careful he could get strangulated and expire. How sad would you and its Mother feel then?

A little more care, please,

I actually clicked on the the "drunk Mango girl" since I've actually been to that place in South Beach. So in saying that, nothing you can ever do will shock me Mango!

I hope the offspring survives! I believe you may have yellow skin under your handsome coat and that eventually offspring will as well.

I want to know offspring's name!!! Do they have pits or seeds? If a pit, may I suggest Brad. For seeds, well, how about Bird?

Mango, Congrats
You have a bronto-doggie baby. What is his/her name? I think it is great you are taking responsiblity for your baby. Will you adopt any herbavoire(I can't spell) buddies for it? I wouldn't get any raptor buddies, or carnavoire buddies just yet. They might not play well.

What a day! An offspring and a theme song! Better get his name down for the best Obedience School now; you know how the good schools fill up early. Abby reminds you that if the little tyke is going to be living with you, Lacie owes you spawn support until he's whatever 18 human years are in bronto-doggie years.
