I got pressies from some of my pals for my birthday, but the stingy witch will not open them yet. She says, "Oh, Mango, we have to wait to open them until I have time to take photos and such." Whatever.
So on to the topic of the day.
It isn't easy to find a bed that keeps it's shape and is cozy too for a large and handsome guy such as myself, but I finally did it. Yes, friends, here is the secret...
Last week when momma was doing the housework, she put both my mammoth beds on top of each other. Now mind you, I have two sizes of bed, so one nestled rather nicely inside of the other.
Neither bed was doing the trick due to the cushions being compressed to flat little pancakes from my slumbering self, but one on top of the other?
Of course getting OUT of bed is, well, a process.
Maybe I can kind of ooze out...
Yup, this is working, now kind of pivot to the side.
Almost there, just have to figure out how to get my back leggies on the floor.
Maybe now would be a good time to take a power nap...
Good thing this carpet has some grip to it. Gotta haul myself forward.
Almost there... rear end has cleared the bed, now try to concentrate... gotta coordinate front end, rear end, oh dear, so complicated.
It can often take me many minutes to figure all that out, but, hey, what else do I have to do, right?
Mango Man! Oh yeah!
P.S. From Momma
For those of you without giant dog experience, let me tell you that getting up is a process that can take several minutes. I think Mango's record for getting up from a down is about 7 seconds, but that is when he is VERY motivated. When he is asleep, it takes up to ten minutes for him to position and collect himself and finally get his legs under him. Often he falls back to sleep halfway through the process and has to be reminded of his mission.
The phenobarbitol is making him somewhat more uncoordinated in the back and he has more false starts actually rising from a recumbant position but other than that no bad side effects yet.
And of course he is the deepest sleeper ever. Here is a short video of his snoring. I love Mango's snoring. In fact when I am having trouble sleeping myself, I move one of his beds next to the couch and lay down and soon enough, that steady purr puts me right to sleep.
