Fun With Weave Poles by Mango Momma

That's right!
At last, here is my very own Mango Momma introduction to weave poles.
At almost seven minutes, it is kind of long, but grab a cup of your favorite beverage and enjoy because it is chock full of information, color commentary, and, of course, Mango and Dexter!

Warning! It gets kind of LOUD at 5:30 so be ready at the volume controls.

To watch on YouTube, just click here.

Don't give up your day job just yet, but I think you may have a future in videography!

It helps that your sidekicks are so cooperative and cute! (Please don't tell RH I called him cute!)

So we're stuck on the first part... Do you rub raw meat on your hand? How do you get them to follow the hand signal? We LOVED this, BTW.

I haven't heard my mom laugh that hard in a long time! Ha roo roo roo!
By the way, I thought your mom did the weaving pretty well, Mango. Maybe you should just have her weave?
Play bows,
PS: We are TOTALLY impressed with you and Dexter!

I've never seen the weaves taught using "touch". Very nice!

I've always taught them using a clicker. I was totally amazed by how fast my dogs figured out what I was clicking...

It's really fun seeing Mango do the weave!

Great video - but you know there IS a reason for weave pole training - Picture this - There is a barbecue happening, lots of good meat sizzlin away, lots of people milling around chatting - in sneaks the Mango - just minding his own business. He spies that plate of ribeye steaks just sitting waiting to be grilled and when no one is looking he pounces ! With his ill gotten game - he is off - you guessed it - weaving in and out the people as they try to grab him - but Mango the big dude is to agile (actually he just knocks everyone down like bowling pins) - but you get the idea - weaving does have a purpose!!!

The video was great. I like Momma's great acting skills before the My Bad sign. My Mommy actually was thinking about trying to teach me the weave polls butt I think Mommy would need to take a carpenter's course to create weave polls, she is too cheap to buy it already made. You should see the jump Mommy tried to make me out of PVC pipe pieces -- can you say "Ghetto Jump". One of the ends that sticks up has so many connector pieces because she was too lazy to cut up a whole piece of pvc pipe. Needless to say, I am too embarassed to even be seen next to that jump.

I totally don't get weave poles.
Gail says thanks to MangoMomma for the useful advice....

Fiona, as typed by Dr. Liz said...

Yuh. Dexter is a total show-off and totally needs a few head-bites. However, this video clearly inspired Mom, because after days of us just going through 2 poles, we graduated to 4 poles today. Now Mom's all focused on facing forward and not turning toward us.... But we think your Mom has an awesome instructional manner - not too serious, but still instructive. She should give up tweaking numbers for a living and start making video signs! ;-)
