Fence me In

Recently, Master installed railings around my Observation Deck.

This was in response to Momma's constant worry regarding my fondness for positioning my large and resting wherever self thrillingly close to the edge.

Sure, I will grant you that between my big, but less big front leggie and the occassional twinge from my rear quarters I sometimes execute a slippy slidely reverse move when assuming an upright position.

However, in all the time I have lived at the estate, I have never ever ever taken a tumble.

But, well, you know how humans can be. Note that the lower rail is positioned low enough to prevent back slide and yet high enough to (hopefully) facilitate painless snow removal.

Ladies, also note that I am totally nekked in this photo. Oh hurt me!

Alert readers know that the Pea has always scorned the stairs, opting instead to levitate on and off the edge of the deck.

Seems old habits are hard to break and he tried that move a few times after the railings went up. The result? You guessed it.

BAM! SPLAT! Hehehe.

Which I thought, would make a great post and thus ensued the following conversation.

Me: Hey, Momma, go get the flashy and we can make a video of the labradoink smashing into the fence.

Momma: No, Mango, I am not going to do that.

Me: Why not? It is great entertainment.

Momma: Because Dexter could get hurt, you wouldn't want that, would you?

Me: He won't get hurt. He is made of rubber. Besides, you always laugh when he does it.

Momma: I do not laugh.

Me: Yes you do.

Momma: Do not.

Me: Do too.

Momma: NOT!

You can see how quickly conversations with the DOH deteriorate into meaningless exchanges.

Aw, look at the little guy. Guess he'll have to use the stairs like a normal dog.

As for me, well, I'm just glad the rails aren't all fancy lest they detract from my handsomeness.

Mango Man! Oh yeah!

P.S. We've been doing a lot of the reading without commenting lately. Just the way things go sometimes. You know humans and their busy brains. But you know what? I really look forward to reading your posts even when idiot momma says, "no time to comment!" so I'm good with my pals who do the same with my bloggy too. We're all in this together.

Gow did you finally get master to finish tis project? Especially before winter? I guess he read it's safety week in blogville and the mayor frankie called him.

Ps i'm still trying to figure out the handsome comment- it's a good thing woo can sing- not sure it's the looks the ladees love. Just sayin

You look so regal, Mango! I'm glad they're putting in a fence to keep you from accidentally (and very unlikely) sliding off your deck.. and if they threw in some doofus fun as a bonus. Well - I don't see the problem with that.

Uncle Mango, I like the way you treat your little brother. You give me great ideas. I must admit though, Dexter's leap through the air is very impressive. Tyler's eyes bunged out of his head when he saw it. Sometimes he likes to stand on top of the glass garden table. Mum's eyes bung out then hehehe. Have a great week. No worries, and love, Stella and Rory

Those new rails really suit you as the patterns in your fur coordinate with the wood grain, whereas the Pea's fur coat just looks wrong!

Bouncing Bertie said...

But Mango you could have the fanciest rails in the whole world and they would detract one iota from your handsomeness.

You are quite the handsome man Mango..

Mom does that a lot too. (Read and not comment; not fall from the observation deck).

Have a great Sunday big guy!

I so understand the 'reading without commenting'. Life gets so crazy sometimes! Love the labradude flying off the deck...great photo! However, I am more excited that there is a railing now...I had one put up around our porch for the very same reason! : )

You look quite handsome, framed by the new railing. We are most disappointed that your momma did not film the pee wee bamming into the railings and going splat. We would have paid good money to see that.

We agree that the rails complement your brindled furs. Do not let the master stain them!

The safety rails are a good idea Mango Man. One can never be too careful. And as some of your other friends noted, nothing could ever detract from your wrinkled faced, sagging joweled, relentlessly handsome self!

Dude... you can't just go around telling peoples that you sit around your backyard nekkid... pretty soon the puparazzi will be invading your estate to get some em-bare-assing photos of you to sell to the tabloids!

Ok let's get the obligatory 'yer the most handsomest blah blah blah' outta the way. (Meja says 'woo ooof!!!')

We think you should get Master to paint the rail a lovely brindle color then the labradoi uhhh we mean Dexter would think it was you and stay away from it. That would take the fun out of it though huh? Oh well... carry on...

Infact Mango I think the railings enhance your manliness, like prison and you is all tough dog. You know the ladies love the bad boys!
I feel the reading and not commenting thing. Mum says if only GR allowed us to comment in there I would be able to comment more, our poor internets can't take it.

I think that Mr. Master did a super duper job. NOW your mom can help you make like 87,000 SnowMen... and put on the top rail... where they WONT turn all YELLOW and stuffs... Khyra will FAINT when you do THAT.. Me... not so much.

so is that like an upgrade from jail?

Mango. Naked? Really? Are you trying to give me high blood pressure?? Sheesh.

Mom was glad you got railings, cuz she was worried abut you having a seizure out there and hurting yourself, but we feel sorry for Pea. Especially Bart who CANNOT TOLERATE any changes to anything...

Fiona, as typed by Dr. Liz said...

Mom brought out the smelling salts, so we are totally over our swooning. Even though the nekkidness is causing us to pant. (Or maybe it was all the time at the park just minutes ago... Whatever.) Um, we think the DH is being totally unfunballs by NOT videoing Dexter splatting into the railings. I mean, the Three Stooges are comedy icons. Physical comedy NEVER gets old. And Dexter can totally handle it. Besides your Youtube traffic would totally skyrocket. Just saying... But we're glad that you are safe from being sucked over the edge of the porch!

Great idea, Mango - you can just see how much they love you. Now let's hope you don't get two feet of snow all at one time. Pee Wee will learn, and probably a good thing for his joints not to have him jumping off anyway. And as for your handsomeness, we don't think there is anything that could detract from that.

I'm with your mom on this one. No one wants to have you take a fall. This will see that won't happen.

Excellent job, Mango Master! While we are sorry for poor Pea's forlorn look, your safety has to come first, RH. Besides, this way Mango Momma and Mango Master might actually get to sit in their deck chairs during the nice Autumn weather, now that they are not required as emergency railings.

Bwaaaa ha ha! Mom is choking on her water while reading your conversation! Has your mom considered that perhaps you're going to need to put padding on that railing for Dexter's safety? Or maybe get him a helmet?

Oh man, that conversation between you and your momma had me giggling out loud.

Nice fence. I trust you are showing Dexter how the stairs are properly used by proper sized, not rubber doggies.

Awww, that is such a sad Pea face. Doesn't it make you just wanna help him take down the rails. I bet if you slipped out after dark you could get it done before the humans awake.

Mango, your nekked picture....I'm blushing.

I wish Mom could stay home with me all day and help me with my blog, commenting, playing games, and baking dog cookies. I try to get around and comment but golly I realized sometimes I'm absent for a week or more. Time flies. We too sometimes just read the blogs and don't comment.

That's an excellent deck fence Mango. Wondering if Dexter will figure out how to make himself small enough to clear the middle gap or just go over the top ;)

I'm with ya on the comment thingy. Sometimes I only have time to read and not write :( least I can keep up with my pals :)

Waggin at ya,

We all do what we can, when we can - with no pressure. Otherwise, it's not as fun! That's what Mom says, anyway.
Mom didn't even notice the railing, she was just commenting on how handsome you boys are.
Dex seems to have perfected the sad-eyes-look! Woo.

Don't you know its a dogs law to be able to hang 4,8,12,or 16 claws over the edge - that is almost as bad as those meshy things they stick in car windows so we can't hang our heads out and catch yummy bugs in the eyeball....

Nice rails! Yes we o a lot of reading and not commenting. But we love you!

We have been having problems commenting on your blog but have been reading :) hugs to yall

The new rails rock - for you!!! Glad to hear that Dexter has stopped trying to levitate through them - even though your conversation with Mom was hysterical, we don't want Pea to get injured. (And so sorries about your foot - hope it is much better now, Mango!)

Yeah I've been doing a lot of reading without much commenting too. It sucks, but sometimes it's necessary.

The railing looks really nice!

So . . . I wanna see the video lol!
