Monday Movie Matinee - Taking my Medicine

Check out Miss Lily! She went to the hospital a little while ago with the bad cancer in her leggie. The doctor took her whole leg away because it was making her sicker and sicker, but look at her now! She is so happy and looking amazing in the special t-shirt her mama made for her.
You can visit her here.

Each and every day, twice, I have to take my Free No Barbie Doll to help keep the evil seizure monster away (and so far it is working which makes me very happy).

I'm not bothered. Well, at least in the morning when momma hides my medicine in cheese food (although I would prefer not to share my noms with PeeWee).

But at night she usually just puts like totally her entire arm in my mouth to give me my pill and that is, well, not as nice as cheese. Right?

I made this little movie to demonstrate and I am sure you will agree that the AM method is the way to go. Nom, nom, nom.

Mango Man! Oh yeah!

P.S. If you get a chance, please visit little Molly. She is a new blogger and just had double knee surgery and I am sure she would like hearing from other doggies who have had surgery and also getting some good thoughts. Visit her here.

I too would take no 1, anytime. Actually, I get 2 pills of glu-co-sa-mine every morning, for my gorgeous end slender loins and all, and to begin with my mom could just give them to me,and I'd chew them all down. But after a while I realized they were not treats.. and spit them out. So, she camouflaged them in my breakfast bowl, and it woked fine for a while, but then I just refused to eat my breakfast at all. Until she removed the pills, then I could go ahead. So now I get them wrapped in slices of brown goat cheese ( Norwegian speciality, my mom's favourite ), and that is so utterly delicious it is all I can think of in the morning ! Nothing comes ahead of that - a bowl filled with fresh breakfats, I won't touch it unless I haven't got my special brown wrappings!

Howdy Uncle Mango, wowza, we thought your mum's arm was going to come out the other end! Eewwwww. Hehehe. Doesn't matter how you take your pills, as long as it keeps the SM far, far away. We have been visiting Miss Lily too and she is looking fabulous. We will pop in on Miss Molly too. Take care big Uncle Mango dude. No worries, and love, Stella and Rory

Pills = a lots of cheese !! Yam !

I get my pills in cheese too! Cheese is the best. Except once in a while there are these really big pills which, even broken up, are hard to hide in cheese. Then I must give the Moms a very hard time. But it's good you're taking your meds, Mango. You want to keep that Seizure Monster away.

Mika loves his pills in cheese too. He's so clever and won't take his meds if no cheese is involved.

Am going to visit Lily and Molly right away!

Dude, you've got to train your people better! My sissy Cinderella has to take pills every morning and night, and she gets it with cheese both times. And I get the cheese with no pills, ha ha!

Thanks for letting us know about Lily. I'm so glad that she's cancer-free!

We have to do the medicine thing with K too. Hers is a nasty chemo drug. We have to wear gloves to handle it, and we have to stuff it down her throat so that she doesn't spit it out and get the chemicals everywhere...

She doesn't seem to mind too much. But, after reading your post, she's pushing for the cheese, Mango!!!!

Gosh, it looks like your momma reached down into your throat and dropped the pill right into your tummy, Mango!

Love ya lots,

Dude - you know if the DOH ever gets out of line, you can just close those massive jaws of yours before she gets her hand out. That'll teach her! We actually prefer our medimecations in peanut butter, but cheese is good too. And for some reason, when one of us is being drugged, both of us get peanut butter - which is a good thing! As for our Mom's to-do list, yeah, those leaves will be there until the end of time. Especially since Mom and Dad are playing golf again - which means that NOTHING will happen on the weekends. Or the afternoons, since Mom will be going to the 'driving range' - which, apparently, is NOT the freeway. I don't understand humans...

Yup, same deal around here. In the morning Mom puts our pills in yogurt and they just slide down. But at night we have to just take them. Mom hands them out as if they were treats and we have to swallow them ourselves if we want a cookie. They're not so bad.

Ewwwww...I don't think I would like to have a human's arm down my throat nearly as much as CHEESE. Humans get the wackiest ideas sometimes, don't they? But you sure are nice to put up with your kooky momma like that.

Mango, how much more work can it really be to put the medicine in cheese both times? I mean really WTF? Nina gets her twice daily meds in peanut butter and thinks it's a treat. Oh well, at least it keeps the monster away.

Your mom is crazy...what with sticking her entire arm down your throat like that. Surprised she doesn't get stomach acid or even poop on her hand from reaching into your colon! :)

We stopped by Molly's blog and left her a comment since Riley just had knee surgery in October!

Thunder has a daily pill to take twice a day too, but he is pretty good about having it just added to his food. Mom does put it in cheese sometimes too. Now Phantom is a whole different story - he is impossible - even when Mom puts it down his throat - he can hold that pill in his mouth forever. Mom is glad he isn't on regular meds.

We must also say your MOm is very brave putting her whole arm down in there with all your slobbers:)

Hey Mango!
Wow, that Barbie gal needs some surgery or makeup or something ... she's really homely! BOL. I'd go for the cheese too. Maybe gack a little on Momma next time and she'll go for the treats instead!

We take our omega three capsules in our food no problem. Pills we get in cheese or hotdogs. Has your DOH become the stingy witch and not buying enough cheese for you guys?

That's pretty funny Mango!

I remember when my Maggie May picked up a chocolate brownie on a walkie. Like WHO would leave a perfectly fine chocolate brownie on the ground anyway... But when I realize that's what she had, I stuck MY WHOLE ARM down her gullet to get it back. Seriously, all the way to my elbow! I got that brownie back though! A momma's work is never done!

Wowserz! I don't think I could let someone stick their entire hand in my mouth... unless I'm bitin' it! Teehee! ;)

Mama is wedded to the Great Dane pill delivery system, which is exactly the same as your evening 'ram it down the throat' method. But we get a treat after we've swallowed all the pills so mama can be positive we're not hiding a pill to spit out later when she's not looking. Mama is pretty good at pushing the pills down our throats, too, and not just popping them in our mouths. Every once in a while one of us fools her and she finds a pill on the floor, but not very often. And our pills are different so she knows who did it and just rams it down the miscreant's throat again, so there's really little sport in playing that game. Mamas are funny that way.

Mommy just fainted so I am commenting. I am 13 pounds and if Mommy tried to put a pill down my throat, she would win a free trip to the emergency room and yet you can put your whole arm(practically) down Mangos throat. Before she fainted she mumbled something about me coming to spend some time at the estate with Mango and Dexter for an attitude adjustment. She must have been delirious, my attitude is just fine as long as she does things my way.

I am sorry about Lily I hope she will be ok now

It seems we are missing out on this thing called cheese Mango, we get method number two...entire arm in down the throat! Addmittedly it is followed by a tastey dried tripe treat!! Yuuummy!

Lots of slobbers,

While Lily would love to get her meds with cheese everyday she is very adept at getting the pill separated from said cheese and spitting it out. We have even tried liver sausage!
So she stuck with Method 2......and yes it does pay to have a dog with a big mouth!

Lassiter Chase and Benjamin said...

Liverwurst is the best for hiding medicine!!!! Your momma is so brave for sticking her hand down the lion's mouth - I mean the Mango's mouth.

We were SO thrilled to read about Miss Lily! Mom got all weepy and stuff. Cancer free! Who gets to say that after an osteo diagnosis?!?!

We've been taking a que from Corbin and getting pills in cream cheese. Yummers! Mango, it's easy to see how a boxer head would fit nicely in your mouth!

Why can't you have cheese twice a day? I think that would be more pleasant.
BTW, I LOVED the drool you got going on the cheese delivery!

For cheese we'd take medicine twice a day. No, three times a day!

We love your big mouth. We've been thinking and thinking and we wondered if we see if Guido fits in there?

Hey - I've been meaning to alert you to this dusturbing thing that Hsin-Yi has been hearing about LOTS on the radio here - everyone's going nuts for it here in Australia: The African Mango Diet!!

The ads go on & on about it - promising amazing things. Wow, I knew The Mango was pretty powerful but these claims?! Do you think it's some seedy African cousin of yours out to make some money?? Or is someone just cashing in on your big name??

Anyway, here's the website if you want to check it out:

I'm voting for the A.M. pill technique.

What's up with the second one is your Mom trying to insert the pill directly into your stomach? Where did her arm go? I'm a little scared.

Wow Mango!! You're awesome at taking pills. She didn't have to hold your mouth shut, rub your throat or blow in your nose lol. Good job. The first method does look nicest though. I LOVE string cheese. :D
