My New Cooling Jacket by Dexter

I am happy to report that the twinges in my hind quarters have diminished and I am feeling quite bouncy. Nevertheless, I remain on restricted activity which is quite frustrating for an active chap such as yours truly.

Deprived of daycare, agility, freestyle, and, yes, tennis ball, short walks (supplemented with trips to the pool next door) are, for now, my only outlet.

So you can imagine my frustration as I watched the temperatures soar into triple digits.

Surely it was divine providence which timed the arrival of my Swamp Cooler jacket (which had been back ordered for ages).

After momma soaked it in the pool, I was ready to try it out.

What do you think? Of course everything goes with black, but I think I look exceptionally sporty.

There was a bit of a tussle getting it on and momma will have to adjust the chest strap, but overall, I give it four big paws up.

I want to remind my friends that even with a nice cooling jacket, it can get too hot for walkies and your humans should be mindful of the heat stored in the sidewalks which can burn tender feet. And never, never, NEVER let your humans leave you in the car, even for a moment when it is hot outside.

You can read all about the Swamp Cooler jacket here. Momma ordered mine from Amazon.

Dexter done!

P.S. We did not order a jumbo jacket for the RH, but he has been getting hosed down before and after his amazingly short strolls.

We think you look very handsome in that new jacket and hope it keeps you nice and cool. As black dogs we sympathize with you. Thanks for reminding people not to leave their dogs in the car. People are so dumb sometimes.

We have just looked up the weather forecast for this coming weekend, and I do believe that Gail is crying slightly. It seems that the Swamp Cooler jacket is not about to become a best seller in Scotland....
Toodle pip!
Bertie.
PS But we do think you look most suave in it , Dexter.

Dexter we had never heard of Swamp Cooler jackets. We have to agree you wear it well and if it does the job and keeps you nice and cool it definitely receives a paws up.

Here in England we are contemplating cancelling all future Airecuts and digging out our thermals and wellies. So much for Flaming June!

Have a great weekend Mango and Dexter.

Glad to hear that you are feeling better Dexter!

You look good in your new cooling jacket!
I have wondered if those swamp jackets would work on the Newfs through their thick coat.

Oooh, what a grreat idea! I'll have to talk to Momma about getting me one of those. Right now we're just delaying our walks until the very end of the day when it's a little cooler. But in Texas, even nights are hot!

Okay, okay. I'm crying Uncle and ordering Sis one when I get home. (Never mind that another doggy bloggy pal has been demanding that I try it for over a year...)

You are looking exceptionally COOL in your cooling jacket - grey is definitely your color. We somehow think they wouldn't work to well on long haired dogs though

Cool jacket and cool dude! YOu're way too cool in your jacket, Dexter!

What a lucky guy you are! My mom has never thought of getting me a cool jacket like yours even though we live in a hot hot hot country. I think she really needs to do some homework now.

How interesting! I've heard of those made out of a chamois-type cloth. What is this one made out of? It looks almost like neoprene. Is it heavy when it's been dunked in the water? Does it drip?

That's a pretty neat jacket. Not only do you look sharp, but it keeps you feeling like the cool dude that you are.

EXCELLENT advice Dex!! We change our grocery shopping schedule to shopping only after dark here in the summer because a certain rotten-wiler / greyhound /larbradorkess insists on snoopervising our shopping expeditions!

We also wondered how heavy that jacket is when it's fully loaded, and do you slosh when you walk? It looks refective in the photos, which would also help repel the heat. How fast does it dry up and have to be reloaded with water? We applaud your momma for trying so many new ways to keep you safe and comfortable! Our mama just leaves us at home in the AC instead of making the extra effort to fix things so we can go with her when she leaves our estate. Well, we still get to go on car rides, but only if mama is running 'drive thru' errands where she never leaves the car and never turns off the AC.

If I had sniffed this out on my own, I woulda prolly been a bit skeptical of it's coolin' powers. But since it is Lab tested and approved I'm gonna have Mom order me one. I hope they have sumpthin' to match brown. It's not like I have to beg for her to spend money or anythin'. Thanks for the info - I hope you get some royalties from the sales you've been responsible for.

Woofs and hawt slobbers,
Chester ;0=)

Pee.Ess. - So as not to make anythin' TOO easy for Mom, I also will pretend to struggle as she places it on my ownself.
