Blog Retirement

Friends and loyal readers,
I had originally planned on responding to every comment personally, but the outpouring of good thoughts and sympathy has been so overwhelming that I am compelled to just give you all a Relentlessly Huge thank you. Your words mean so much to me.

Mango was my muse, no doubt. And while I choose my prose carefully, in my head, I am usually saying "WTF?" "Seriously?" "Whatever!"

I am retiring this blog. The magic of Mango's Great Adventures won't come back. Mango was one of a kind, no doubt about it, and all it ever took to put a smile on my face was just to look at him being himself.

Should I return to blogging, it will be on a new blog, a different blog, but that, if it happens, will wait for me to clear my head and focus on little Pea and what sort of blog would be right for him. Pea is emerging as a new doggie now that he is not living under the shadow of his brother who was, let's face it, always kind of a bully towards the stoic little chap.

I'm glad that I had this photo taken of me with my Bubba recently (complete with evil witch red devil eyes).

Mango was a big, spoiled, cry baby momma's dog all the way, of that you can be certain.
I wouldn't have had it any other way.

And now just a few brief memories.

Mango always waited on the deck for me to come home. His howls began as soon as my car pulled into the driveway "Hurry, momma!"

Ah, the joy of being Mango. It just feels so good!

And my all time favorite photo of Mango with PeeWee. Super smack down bitey face! Oh yeah!

Mango Momma

P.S. An extra big "thank you" to Alasandra, Socks, Scylla & Fenris for our header photo.

So love this picture of both of you. He is very very huge and with a very big smile. I am sure he's running fast and free at the rainbow bridge. Do let us all know when you are ready to blog again. We will be there waiting. Thank you very much for sharing Mango with all of us.

Take good care of yourself. *HUGs*

The memories are all good, aren't they? That's the best thing about dogs - you can always call them back, no matter what distance separates you, and they will always make you smile.

Sending you hugs this morning.

I love each of the photos, and I can understand preserving the blog as it is. I know I will miss reading about Mango's antics a great deal, but not nearly as much as you will miss writing about them, I'm sure! We'll watch for Dexter's new blog. We've always loved that little guy, too!

I wish I could do something to help with your sorrow. We all share that with you and we also are loving our memories of MRH. You are right that this blog will never be the same without him, but a new blog could be just the healing ticket. Dex will give you tons of love and tons of blog material and I hope you let me know when you are ready to start up again. In the meantime, if Dex gets lonely, he can come here and we'll run and play all over my territory together!

We understand retiring the blog. My partner and I watched several Mango YouTube videos last night. Sitting on the couch, 3000 miles away from you laughing and crying over a big beautiful drooling Mango. Thank you again for giving Mango a voice and sharing him so wonderfully with the world. We will miss his blog and hope eventually you and Dexter return.

From the mom - This blog was definitely Mango’s – it has his paw prints all over it and I don’t mean that in the literal sense. Mango definitely had his own personality and while maybe a few things rubbed off on Dexter (again, not literally) – Dexter still has his own personality. I am hoping that everyone will understand why this blog needs to be retired now although it really is up to you and what you know is right for you, I think we all hope too that when you feel the time is right then you will return and let Dexter shine in his own way the way you gave Mango that opportunity. But again, that is really your choice and we understand that too. Blogville will never be the same without the Relentlessly Huge Mango-man around although he will be with us always in our hearts. Hugs to you all and please give Dexter an extra kiss from the Beagle Mama and some Beaglebratz slobbers – Beagles may not have the same quantity and quality as Mango slobbers but they do have still have a few.

Dear Dexter. First, I'm so sorry for the loss of your brother. There must be a lot of sadness around the estate. I just wanted to tell you that after my brother Gizmo went to the bridge last October we were very sad, too. But then, it was weird, we noticed that we could be more playful and silly and no one was gonna come and try to boss us around or tell us to move or take our toy. Me and Ruby play and romp and bounce and chase in a way that we never did before. We miss Gizmo every day, some more than others, but it has been nice to sort of "lighten up" and not be so darned serious. We're looking forward to "The Adventures of Dexter the Wonder Dog" at some point.

Thinking of you,

When I started blogging, I originally took turns with all three of my dogs.
I wanted to give them each a voice that matched their personalities.
I found as I continued to blog, Josie came through to me the most.
She was sarcastic, fun and sassy. She had a big heart and was very easy to photograph.
Channeling Josie was very easy. I would read my own blog sometimes and crack myself up.
Josie became this little character that she helped me create.
Sure, I would have Izzy and Anakin do their thing, but I felt most connected with Josie.
Josie was getting very sick.
I kept it off the blogs. It was too painful. I would have her next to me blogging and couldn’t find “our voice” together.
I was struggling with having to put her down and needed more time with her.
I started Anakin’s blog to help me take my mind off the pain.
Meanwhile, behind the sanitized fun of Anakin’s blog, I was confiding in my pain with Josie to my friends.
You were one of them that I shared my pain with.
You also helped me to give Anakin his voice and purpose in his little blog world.
You kindly made him a judge and helped me during an extreme difficult time.
We as bloggers love our pets and they do speak through us.
Nobody can understand that that doesn’t have a pet.
Mango will be greatly missed and you helped to portray his voice the best way possible.
When you feel ready, it will come again through another channel, but Mango will not be forgotten~

Much Love~

Dear Mango Momma,
Still can't get over Mango's passing. I completely understand about retiring the blog. Mango was special and so was his blog. I always felt you captured him and that through your writing I truly did get to know Mango and all his ways.

I've been going back through our blog, reading Mango's comments and laughing. Niamh won't have anyone to commiserate with her over younger brothers' and their cooties. I've read comments from dogs who are no longer blogging - Fenway, Mr. T-Bone Beasley, Gus and Louie- and wondering how they and their people our doing.

Thank you for letting us in to your life through Mango. I hope, that when your heart hurts a little less, that Dexter will be able to have his own blog. Thinking of you.

We have not been able to get over that Mango isn't with us anymore. This blog can never be the same again withour him. We can understand how you feel but please come back after awhile with a new blog for Dexter. We love Peewee too and want to see me grow up.

We did a tribute to Mango the day after he passed and Mommy wants to share the poem she posted on it with you. It might help. it helped when Samantha left for the bridge.

We can shed tears that he is gone,
or we can smile because he lived and lived well.
We can close our eyes and pray that he'll come back,
or we can open our eyes and see all the love he left behind.
Our hearts can be empty because we can't see him,
or we can be full of the love and times we shared.
We can turn our backs on tomorrow and live yesterday,
or we can be happy for tomorrow because of yesterday.
We can remember of him only that he is gone,
or we can cherish his memory and let it live on.
We can cry and close our minds,
be empty and turn our backs,
or we can do what he'd want us to do:
smile, open our eyes, love and go on.”

God Bless......Mona & Weenie

Dear Mango Mama, we just want you to know how much we have enjoyed your blog. Mango truly lived up to his larger than real life sized reputation and ALWAYS made us smile. Just know that his supersized nards and handsome mug will be sorely missed. Sugars to the Pea from us as he adjusts. Not gonna lie, sniffles also here at Kitty+Coco.

Looked to send you a private email but can't find an address for you.

Mango's dying was such a shock, I didn't really know what to say.

Apart from condolences, I do hope that it gives you some comfort to know that Mango had a wonderful life with you. It was such fun to see his massive colossalness romping with the agile Dex and to see how gentle he was with you. We'll miss him.

Dear Mango Momma,

Thank you so much for sharing the Relentlessly Huge's life with us through the years and we loved reading everything about Mango. In fact, he was our inspiration of having our own blog. Mango was one of the most gentlest giants and he will be remembered forever. We understand his leaving has left a big hole in your heart but we hope those fond memories of him will fill up the hole and lighten you up too.
By the way, we love little Dexter as much as Mango, hope he has cheered you up.
Please take care, Mango Momma.

I know I've been a (for the most part) absentee blogger for quite some time now. Life has gotten busy and has left me for little time left for composing more than Wordless Wednesdays (Composing Wordlessness. Hah-think about that one!). BUT, I have to say that this leaves me feeling sad to know that I can't stop by and see what Relentlessly Huge fun is going on here. I do absolutely-without-a-doubt-completely understand your decision. Mango's magic was one of a kind and it would not be fit to limp this blog along without his presence to inspire you.

As this blog takes it's final curtain bow, let me just say you have made me laugh hysterically and at times have left me completely speechless as to how to comment other than ROFLMAO. I give you a standing ovation also for all the work you did also for Mango Minster. It was pure genius!!!

Please let us know if and when you unleash a new "beast" into the Blog world. Hugs to Pea as he now has moved into top dog position, and to you also as you find that you now have a whole lot more room to dance about the house in your loud-checkered pants and mad bomber hat without tripping over Mango and his nards.

Loved all these pics and the memories you shared. Thanks for letting us be a part of his life. Although I didn't know him as long as some other readers, I enjoyed reading of his adventures. So sorry for your loss - I know the pain of losing a very special dog. Hugs from me, licks from Blueberry.

Take care and hopefully down the line, when you are ready, we'll get to hear from you.

As always, you write so beautifully. I've been away from blogville for a bit and am just now reading about Mango's passing.
Many hugs to you, but you caught it right in this post - remembering the good times, the funny times (that tackle shot is great) and the little things that made him an individual. He was loved. I hope you come back to blogging - I will love to hear about the Pea.

Hi, I just read about Mango, on the chronicle of woos blog. I hadnt read the blogs in a few weeks. I'm stunned and so sad.
Mango was truly a magnificent being and so very lucky to be a member of your family. Your blog has been amazing, and frankly, very uplifing for me. Tommorrow is two years since the passing of my golden, and I have been very comforted by the blogs, and Mango and the Pea's everyday doings and your incredibly creative prose have giving me many chuckles and joy.
May he rest in peace, may your family and Dexter
find comfort, and may his memory be for a blessing.
My deepest condolances,

Mango was a magnificent being, and so fortunate to have you be his family. His blog has truly been a great comfort to me. It has been two years since my golden , Penny, passed, and I have found alot of joy in reading the everyday doings of Mango and Dexter,
and enjoying your incredibly creative prose and postings. If ever a blog should be a book, it would be the great Mango's.
May he rest in peace, and may you find comfort.
I'm so sorry, my deepest condolances.

What a wonderful video of Mango you put together. He was your silly goofball! I love him with the jack-in-the box and the slobbery face. Your love for him really shines through here. I wish you comfort and peace at this time.

I will so miss Mango - I know the heartbreak of loosing a "soul-dog". All dogs are not "soul-dogs" but obviously Mango was one of yours. Mango was the only dog on the blogs that I gave a voice to in my head and from the very beginning, he always had a goofy voice and I'll miss it. Many mornings I laughed until tears ran down my cheeks. I know I'll come back periodically and read his blog post just to relieve his glory days. He was quite "the Man" - o yeah!!
