An Adventure, a Celebrity Sighting, and ROTE! At last!

My first two stories don't have any photos, sorry.

So one of Master's friends came over to visit and when Master opened the front door instead of greeting the visitor like we usually do, Pee-Wee and I made a break for it! It was just such a nice day that it seemed like a good idea. Off we went with Master in hot pursuit, but he was not fast enough and we soon disappeared into the woods.

We ran and ran! It was so exciting! So many things to smell and see! Pee-Wee stayed with me which was nice of him given that the Mango is not as fast as the little guy. The woods eventually gave way to the streets and on we went. We found some most interesting people who were doing constructions and there was a police man directing the traffic who helped us cross the street.

By this time, I think Master might have been worried because he called the dog police and told them that the Mango and Pee-Wee were off on an adventure. I was feeling fatigued from so much running, so I suggested to Pee-Wee that we find a nice patch of grass to watch the constructions and recuperate. I guess the traffic police called the dog police because pretty soon the dog police came and he put leashes on us. Not as if I was going anywhere by then. I had already run almost 2 miles! He called Master who came to get us right away.

I don't usually like to ride in master's truck, but I was so happy to see him that I got right in and home we went. It was so much fun! I wish we could do it every day, but Master said we were bad doggies who shouldn't scare him like that. Oh dear.

Not to mention that the Mango is unaccustomed to all that running about, particularly in the woods and my leggies are quite sore and I am having trouble getting up. I even cried a little last night because I had to go pee pee but I was too sore to really get up. Mean Momma made me stand and I have to say that walking about made me feel better, but I was really hurting this morning.

For my celebrity sighting... Momma and Pee-Wee actually ran into Norwood himself at dog school. Norwood was just there shopping, but Pee-Wee was there for his stupid Attention class which I guess isn't working because he sure didn't pay attention to Master when we took off on our adventure. Momma says that Norwood is just as handsome in person as on his bloggy. I wish I could have been there.

And finally...

Now that the cooler weather is here I am happy to say that we are able to resume my weekly Running of the Errands. That's right, time to ROTE!

As you can see, I am very excited to be on the road again.

Upon arrival at the dog store, my mission is to guard the Mastiff Mobile.

Some may ask, "Oh Mango, why don't you go in the dog store?" I will tell you why. The place makes me kind of nervous. Too much going on for the Mango. Best to stay snug and safe.

But do please return with great haste!

Ah! The best part of the trip! My car cookie! Go Sox! Nom, nom, nom.

It is important to keep one's head inside during cookie consumption lest some crumbs fall to the ground.

If you do accidentally let your head fall out, a quick jowl swing will catch any wayward bits.

Heading for home...

Ha! Stupid Pee-Wee is mad because he didn't get to go.

I find the mastiff mobile quite comfy and often opt to stay in it for a while even after we are back on the estate.

But eventually I do come in. Today I found myself a bit thirsty so I dipped my head in the water bowl. We have had a big water bowl advancement around here. Now we use these big bowls which I love because I can almost fit my whole face in.

Just looking handsome...

You can see the exciting movie edition of my ROTE by clicking here.

Mango Man! Oh yeah!

P.S. This just in! Norwood's mom totally got her camera and spied on stupid Pee-Wee at Attention school. He is such a fake because he pretends to be all suck up googly eyed at school and then he is insane cracker dog out of school.

we have missed ROTE almost as much as you have. Cookie looks yummy.

Don't run is not good for the hoomans.

That was quite an adventure, guys! All that exercise would make anybody sore. Have you ordered yourself up a massage, Mango?

Hi, Mango...

What a great adventure...I don't know why our Mom's & Dad's don't enjoy them as much as we do...

Loved the ROTE video...

Anyway...glad you are safe and sound and I hope the legs feel better soon. Maybe you should just ask your chauffeur to take you some place when you wanna go walkabout.
Anyway, you be good now and send Momma our love.

WOoos Mango! Mom would call you two, very bad, but me? Weeeeeee! I love to get out and run! I have not been able to make my escape for a long time!I know as I get older my legs hurt if I do too much too, which is why Mom will not let me do any jumps any more at dog school. She says I am retired!?
I hope you feel better soon, how about Mom giving you a nice back and leg massage, mu Mom is very good at it.

Dude .. how did you have the energy to do anything after a 2 mile run!

Man alive I bet master was worried sick! My momma FREAKS OUT at the thought of me being out on my own because I am apparently clueless about crossing streets. I am glad you made it home safe if not a little sore :-(
My momma says she is surprised because she did not peg you as the 'make a break for it' type... maybe you had somewhere you had to be? Perhaps you were worried about pee wee?
Glad ROTE has resumed so car cookie sales will pick up in this economy! Did ROTE happen after your adventure? You looked a little sore big guy! We like how Pee wee checked your beak for car cookie crumbs when you came home... labbies are clever when it comes to crumbs!

Teesha and Bindie said...

That Pee wee led you astray Mango. it was very good of you to make sure he didnt take you to far. hope your feeling better soon.

Golden Samantha said...

Wow - that was some adventure you boys decided to have! Now I get a bit more about your comment on my post about my leashless trailblazing. That sounds scary to me, but seems like you were fascinated but a bit sore. Love the video and pix of your ROTE!!! I can't believe that Dexter ran into Norwood on one trip, and that your mom puts the most yumzers doggie treats in the back with you. OMD!!! I can't be trusted unsupervised with any foodables whatsoever! You are such a good dog! (I love those kinds of cookies, btw - lucky you!)
Hugs xo

Life With Dogs said...

Now that is one heck of a midweek adventure! Are you going to be a bad influence on Norwood?

Stella said...

You boys! Scaring the Master like that, not to mention any peoples who have never seen a fully grown Mastiff before!

I bet though, your favorite words are "Guess where I have been, Peewee?" Right?

Pei In The Life said...

Good Adventure. Glad you both made it home safe. Hope your leggies got better after the car cookie.

Whoa, an adventure can be a good thing, but after you just told us how you live near that turnpike where they have all the Pilgrim signs, that must have been very scary for your Dad. Glad you decided to take a rest and that Pee Wee stayed with you.

Great trip to the "dog store". Did Pee Wee get a cookie too?

Oh how I wish we had footage of THAT Mango Great Adventure!

PeeEssWoo: Boys: are woo trying to drive your DOH to adult beverages like I have been known to do with mine?

Wow! That's quite an adventure! Good thing Pee-Wee was with you, because if you hadn't stopped, he'd probably be in Maine by now! Sorry to hear that your leggies are sore - I guess being Relentlessly Huge has some disadvantages when it comes to Big Adventures!

The Mango Mobile is Very Cool! And the cookie? Mmmm! My cousin Tango (a rather, ah, round older lab) would have loved the "Sox" cookie, as she is a Master Chew Sits transplant living in North Carolina, and she still wears her Red Sox garb whenever possible!

Bobo and Meja's mommy here Mango.

Please do not go on anymore adventures out the front door into the woods again! Bobo and Meja ran into the woods this week too and got lost.

We don't have doggie police out here so I had to go after them. And it scared me sooooo much.

You don't want to scare your master and mommy do you? No you don't.

Rocky Creek Scotties and Rocky Creek Ramblings said...

Wow!! What an adventure - we're glad the Mango is safe (and the PeeWee too of course.

We came over to borrow your "out of the office" sign. Our Mom/photographer/secretary/DOH says she is (horror of horrors) taking a week off from the computer, except for checking her email and posting things on ebay. We'll believe it when we see it.

Mango, you must be careful on adventures without your hoomans! We don't want you to get lost or hurt or anything furiend! That trek to the dog store looks like fun. Why don't you go in? We love going into the doggie stores! Lots of interesting smells. That cookie looks very yummy!

We have told the Mommy that we need to find a tennis ball. We probably don't have any regular size ones here, but we do have our mini ones. We'll get some pictures of those so you can see how small they are. And Mommy is going to track down a regular one so we can get you a picture of us with it.

Mango. We love your adventures. But this one made us a bit nervous. We were relieved when we found that you made it safely home.

Rest. Recuperate. And Relax.
Somehow we think you have no trouble with doing those things.

How many terrier legs would it take to wrap around you and give you a big hug?

Love ya, Mango Man,

Glad to see ROTE has continued.
My Mom always tells me that when Sasha and I go on adventures without her, her heart stops beating and that's very bad for the Mom. I HIGHLY suggest you don't do that again or your ROTE cookie money might have to be spent on heart medicine for your Mom!! That wouldn't be fun at all!!!

Oh Mango! You should scare your masters with zoomies like that! My parents were super freaked out when I ran away and my paws hurt like crazy when i finally found my way back. I sure hope your sore leggies feel better soon and we're glad you all made it back safely!

We met him at an earthdog game.....(he is a fast hot fdog catcher) Love A+A

Maybe now you'll get more foodies? The Mr. swears full doggies sleep all day and don't run away.....she says that's probably cuz they're too plump to waddle very fast. But I can see why yer mommy wants you to stay svelte...lifting yer RH rump into the truck could put her back out. Maybe you should look into one of those vans with a lift? Now that would be one slick Mango-Mobile for goin' oot n aboot. What a great escape!

Do I need to come back? Maybe you need a walker...with tennis balls on the feet for Peewee to play with...

Hey Mango and Dexter..
Nice time you make a jail break.. call me. I'd love to join in. Good thing Master could come to get the mango.. I'd hate to see that walk home.

It was so fun seeing you Pee Wee and Mango's right... you were like I LOVE momma.. I can't keep my eyes off of her. That must be a magical training room b/c my mom thinks I should be in there too. Even if it lasts for only 1 hr.

Biggie-Z said...

Wow, sounds like a GREAT ADVENTURE! My Momma totally would let something like that happen with someone else's dogs because usually I don't run out when the door is open. It's ok you didn't have any pictures cuz the best adventures are totally spontaneous like that.

PeeWee is such a suck up. But that's what little brudders are for, right?

Got lots to tell, Momma's too busy to type!

Wow what an adventure. You both got quite far. Very nice of the policeman to help you cross the street and to let your master know where you were.

Poor Dexter I guess his brains hasn't grown into his head yet lol.

Mango, You really scared my Mommy and me and I bet your Mommy and Daddy too. Please be more careful. I have also tried to run but in the long run, there is nothing like my comfy home. I do understand the need though. You do a very good job guarding the Mastiff Mobile. I also don't like going in to the doggy store, it makes me too nervous, way too many smells in there, I get dizzy. You look very handsome in your pictures(of course).

licks and sniffs, Sasha

Oh Mango - I am so sorry for such an overdue visit (although I did hear about your great adventure from my human!) - I have signed up for this Google Reader thing to try and help me keep up with visiting friends but I'm still having trouble and it is just scary how those black numbers keep climbing up and up if I get a bit busy and don't have time to come to the computer!

Anyway, I LOVED your movie. I even asked Hsin-Yi to forward it specially to Paul at work so he can see you riding around in your Mastiff-mobile - so cute!

I must say, though, your humans are a soft touch, helping you into the car! I didn't get any help - even when I was a puppy! Actually, my humans used to always lift me up - even when I got to 6 months and weighed nearly 50kg, until my trainer Fip told them to stop being silly and that I was perfectly capable of doing it but I was just being lazy and that I would never learn to jump in the car myself if they always did it for me! Hmm...I really like Flip but sometimes, I wish he would keep his mouth shut! :-) So anyway, after that I didn't get any car-lifting privilegs anymore. Humph.

Holy Sh..... I mean, Wow. Mango, you kind of freaked me out with that adventure story, The woods part would have been so much fun and I would have loved to be in the woods with you, but the traffic part sounds kind of scary. Mom says I am stupid about cars. I think it's mean to call someone as beautiful as me stupid. We all know the pancake dog is a bit daft.

Joe Stains said...

DUDE what an adventure. I couldn't imagine people's reactions when they saw a relentlessly huge handsome dog and a cracker dog just cruising around like that. Also, I noticed in the ROTE pictures you ate a SOX cookie, then in the movie you got a PATS cookie. Did you get TWO car cookies? You are seriously the luckiest.
