My South African Adventure - Preparations

Before I start, I want to give special thanks to Joey, Lacie, Petey, and Asta's moms. They helped my momma develop all the photos from my most incredible South African adventure (and please stop by their bloggies too to read their versions of things).

I also want to share some sad news with you. Penny, Patches, and Poppy's dad is going into hospice care and they could use your good thoughts. Our hearts are breaking. Hopefully sharing our adventures will help bring some smiles to their home.

Well, preparations are under way for my big trip to South Africa to visit my pal Max. I decided to bring along some of my guy pals; Scruffy, Stanny, Petey, Joey, and Tanner. Since Max insisted I bring that Lacie Beast as well, I invited Asta as she is the only doggie capable of controlling the creature.

Not being a big fan of shopping malls, I agreed to let Tanner do the shopping for the trip.

Unbeknownst to me, he decided to bring the Lacie Beast along (maybe he is still confused from her creepy slumber party). No sooner did they arrive at the Bass Pro Shop then Lacie started flirting with a totally fake bear.

It's stuffed, you witless creature!

Next thing you know she had donned the lower half of her bikini (oh shameless one) and setup her smoothie station at the lion exhibit.

Tanner remained focused on the task at hand and was able to score a most accommodating tent for my large and taking up space self (wonder where everybody else will sleep).

I am a bit concerned about that giant smoothie dispenser. Maybe it will be confiscated at the airport.

Asta, ever practical, put together a much more appropriate assortment of gear. Including manly hiking boots, mosquito netting, flashy boxes, tea service, pith helmets, hammock, HEY!

Did you say TEA SERVICE? What kind of foo foo Out of Africa trip do you think this is? Sigh.

Fortunately, Asta called ahead and advised me that we would need an XXL plane for transport (and not just so it would fit Lacie's bum either).

Petey supervised the loading of Asta and Lacie's "gear." Us guys were reduced to a single carry on apiece.

Gah! Leave it to Lacie to choose a totally inappropriate outfit for her travels.

Yuh, high heels, perfect for traipsing across the wilds of South Africa. Could that skirt possibly be any shorter?

And since when did the Mango become an accessory?

Sigh. In for a penny, in for a pound I suppose. Let the fun begin!

Mango Man! Oh yeah!

P.S. Max posted some useful South African signage for me to memorize on his bloggy. You can check it out here. Now I am worried.

Hey Mango Dude!

I hope you don't mind, but I get persterred all the time by the female hound species, so I took some action....

I convinced our TOFFEE to make a move on Lacie! He fell for it...can you believe it?! But now I'm having second thoughts. I didn't realise she was soooo BIG! HUGE! COLLOSSAL! If your large and massive self can fit into her arms like that, then our poor TOFFEE is going to feel like a spider!!! She's not gonna be charmed!

Do I need to call in the army?

PS Ive now been waiting at the airport for 24hours....and I thought South African Airlines were dodgy? (hic..burp!)

do you think it is all a big set up and Lacie Beatie is just trying to lure you away and force you to elope????

Hi Max and Tammy!

I know there are tribes that shrink heads in Africa, do you think any of them could shrink Lacie's butt?

Uh oh, she may feed me to the canineibals if she reads this!

Your pal,

Mango, it is sadly because you are so handsome that the females cannot leave you alone!
You look as though you are having a great adventure but strange and unexpected things happen in Africa - be very careful.

Oh wow...Asta surely knows how to pack for a trip! Have a great time. Please do not feed smoothies to the lions, they are unpredictable at the best of time.s

Hey Mango, I got an idea for ya.
Um, you know you don't gotta come back with EVERYTHING you take to Africa, right? Hint, hint. Like you could totally "forget" a particularly annoying, high-heeled terrier there. And I don't mean Tanner.

I think you are very well-prepared, considering all that earthdog bizness you participated in. Max is the best tour guide, so get that Norse Colde down pat and be wary of what those signs indicate (they got some odd ones there eh?)- have a great time! Look forward to hearing all about your adventures!
Hugs xo

We were laughing till we were crying, until we saw Lacie's legs in that jungle skirt. ICK! Hasn't anyone ever told her she needs to shave them??? Bugs'll live and grow in their! And she's holding that stuffed Mango with a leopard's butt? Something's wrong!

Have fun, everydoggie. We'll be keepin' up with your adventures.

Mom and Dad are going to be SO BORED while we are gone, which serves them right for making us bored. I am going to miss the Steelers game tomorrow but I will have Mom DVR it for me, I just hope the Steelers don't fall flat without me! Mom might recheck the adventure timeline and see if I can't squeeze in the game watching at Max's ;)

We read those signs and think you may need an interpreter.

Your adventures have already exhausted me.

Could you drop by Uganda and bring me back a silverback gorilla? These naked apes are boring me.
