Tricky Day FAIL!

So I was FINALLY able to coordinate momma and master to take some photos for Niamh's Tricky Dog Contest (figures they would wait until the LAST day to enter).

Being such a good sport, I let the Relentlessly Clumsy go first while I waited PATIENTLY inside.

Here he is executing his dumb leg weaves. Notice that Momma is wearing an absurd amount of clothing due to her being a total wimp in the cold weather. They both look kind of unstable if you ask me.

Then he did his high five which took him a WHOLE YEAR to learn given how mentally challenged he is.

And I don't even know what this trick is. Maybe Crouching Mastiff.

So then it was MY turn, but do you think that they would make the Relentlessly In The Way go inside? Noooooo! "Oh Dexter, Mango does not WANT to go in. He will stay out of your way, I promise."

But did he? No he most certainly did not! That Beast totally messed up my entire photo shoot!

He thought that HE was still the one being photographed. First he kept touching things with his big old foot because that is one of his "tricks."

Look! He is doing it again and I am kind of confused because I want to do my trick, but every time I try there is something large and dense in the way.

Finally, Momma gave me a clear shot over her leg to show off my levitations.

But Master was TOO SLOW with the flashy beast and just got my bottom in the picture!

Then Momma said, "OK, that is good enough, we have to go shopping now." And they took the Relentlessly Slobbering in the Mastiff Mobile to ROTE and once again locked me up in the house... alone... abandoned.

Oh how I suffer.

An Award and Lock Down!

I got this cool award from my friend Tucker for ME! ME! Dexter! That's right! For ME!

Did I say it was for ME?

And I can pass it along to three of MY friends.

So first I want to give it to Moose who is a totally cool labradude just like ME and is working really hard judging all those sporty dogs at Mango's show.

Then I want to give it to Mason who lives with Brutus who is a total blog hog like my stupid brother.

And finally to Marvin the Hollow Hound who has had to put up with a lot over the past year being falsely accused of dire deeds. Shocking, I know.

Sadly, we are going into lock down mode until after the conclusion of Mango Minster. It all starts on January 30th! I suppose the Relentlessly Huge will be wanting his blog back when everything is over.

Sob.

See you later!

P.S. Being a clever guy, I might find a way to sneak in a post or two during the show. We shall see.

P.S. I think this qualifies as a double WTF moment.

Daycare Day!

Tuesdays I get to go to daycare!

Are we there yet?

Yup, here we are.

There is squirt bottle lady and the greet dog. Enough! Let's go!

See the little corgi? She is very dignified. Kind of like OC. Excuse the fence in these photos, but they need to keep the moms and dads out somehow.

There are a ton of black labradogs like me there. Momma has a hard time spotting me.

There's an Airedale running up from the back play area. So many different doggies! Some of them don't really like to play like the dog in the far left background. They are shy, but they get lots of love.

Momma says Raja didn't like to play either, but she really liked to go and just hang out there and watch the action, so I don't feel sad when I see doggies who prefer to sit things out.

This place is HUGE! And there are things to climb on and a friend for just about everybody.

We made a movie of some of the action. You can watch it here.

It takes us 40 minutes to get to daycare from the estate and then momma drives another half hour to get to the work place. She doesn't really mind because it is a nice peaceful ride through wooded areas and it gives her some much needed time to think.

Around noontime we all go into the nap room and have a cookie and a snooze. This is important to keep doggies from getting overtired and cranky. The nap room is also available for any doggie who needs a time out.

We go back in the nap room at the end of the day and I usually conk right out, but I wake up again when I hear momma's voice.

On the way home we go past this weird traffic light. I am not sure why it flashes and strobes like that, but it does get your attention.

Given how long a ride it is, we get home kind of late and I am STARVING! Hurry up and let me in! Of course the RH is happy to see me and is usually waiting at the door.

Nom, nom, nom.

Zonk!

More Athletic Walkies

Did you watch my walkie movie this weekend? Did you see what a good doggie I was walking right in place and gazing up adoringly at Momma? Well, I am supposed to tell you that I only do that when the camera is on and the rest of the time I am still an insane cracker dog pulling monster.

So maybe some DOH could get a clue? Like that everything about me is fascinating and the camera should be rolling all the time.

Hey! Remember that big snow bank I showed you? Well I took the advice of my readers and decided to climb it.

This is great! I would have gone higher, but momma was too chicken to let go of my leash given I am sometimes inclined to selective hearing on walkies and she wasn't going up, no way!

Hold on! How did this get in here? A gratuitous puppy shot of the Relentlessly Self Absorbed (trying to puzzle out how to get past Beautiful Jaws of Doom, oops, I mean Raja, without losing his nards)! I thought he was busy with Mango Minster. Get off the blog already.

Back to MY story.

Further along there is a nice stone wall. No problem.

And thus I continued my walkie.

P.S. Here is an actual cute puppy photo for the day. As you can see, even as a youngster I was keen to do agilities. Did somebody say "tunnel?"

Dexter the Little Monkey

Mango Minster Entry Deadline is January 27th!

Apology to Momma
Dear Momma,
I am sorry that I accidentally bashed your nose with my snooter last night and made it bleed a little (but nothing like the gusher you had when Mango bopped you with his big old head). I was just so excited practicing my weave poles and when I got it right I was really happy and wanted to give you a smoochie, but I guess I startled you and maybe hurt you a bit. Of course you should know by now that when I am excited that your face is not out of reach of my athletic levitations.
Love,
Dexter

Momma sometimes calls me her little monkey because I love to jump and climb on just about anything that I see (well, and of course there was that incident where I stole an entire banana off the counter and ate it peel and all before momma could stop me).

But really I am a monkey because of my athletic skills so when we go on walkies we always get a little agility practice in wherever we can.

Before I show you my athletic moves, check out this pile of snow. HUGE! That will be there until spring.

This picnic table is at the ice cream store. They are closed for the winter, but people still go there to eat pizza and stuff so it is certainly worth checking for leftovers.

Almost like an A-frame except you can only go one way.

Whoops. How did this picture get in here?

Time to rest. Don't want to overdo things.

Ha! Statue dude! This platform is kind of high and momma was so surprised when I just hopped on up. What did she expect? I am a very agile labradude.

I convinced Momma to bring the camera so that you could see actual video of my walkie / agilities. Makes things much more exciting, don't you think?

Dexter done!

P.S. I received so many nice comments about my puppy photos that I thought I would include another one. Let me tell you, growing up with the Relentlessly Huge was not easy, but it did make me an expert on reading doggie body language because he can go from being my best pal to Mr. Grumpy Pants in a flash, but I always see how his body gets stiff and his face gets a funny look and clear out.

Dexter Dog Pile

Oh look! Another baby picture of me. See how fierce I was even as a puppy? Grrrr! Watch out!

Momma finally went to our PO box to discover that we had received a wonderful holiday card from El'bow and Hauwii. Inside were two special tree ornaments just for us.

I was very excited to examine mine.

Here they are. One for each of us! Thanks so much!

Training for the dog pile competition has turned out to be much harder than I expected. I thought that I could do anything that the RH can do, but this particular trick requires more patience and holding still than I can muster.

I think I did a pretty good job, though, and I'm going to enter. Who knows, maybe there will be an amateur or active labradude division.

But I am having trouble deciding which photo to use, so I hope you will help me.

Here are the pictures I have. I numbered them and put a little voting gadget in the sidebar. You can vote until midnight on Saturday and I will go with whatever you choose.

Ready?

Picture #1
Kind of a warm up.

Picture #2
Three objects, but one of them is my moose stuffie which is hard to ignore.

Picture #3
Four objects and you can see from my face that I can hardly bear all the holding still.

Picture #4
I'm going for the awwwww factor here. Work with what you have.
Note to Dennis. Don't worry, there are no bees in there anymore. Some other dog ate them all.

Just because I said I liked Mango doesn't mean I don't recognize the fact that he is a total fool. Check out the latest on the MM site if you don't believe me. I mean, I knew what was up with "Khyra" the moment she came shrieking through the front door, didn't you? As for his Relentlessly Rude treatment of our guests, well, read for yourselves.

Wordless Wednesday - Two Years of Cute

Dexter done!

P.S. We apologize for our infrequent visits and comments to our friends and are very appreciative to all who are visiting us and leaving comments. Momma says the work place is really intense right now and between that, 100+ contestants in MM, 9 judges, mayhem at the estate, and helping us train for the MM Sanctioned contests it is hard to find the time to visit other doggies. We hope you understand
