Hurricane Report by Dexter

Dexter here, happy to report that Irene was somewhat subdued by the time she arrived at our estate. We were very fortunate that all we suffered was a long power outage. We even got to play tennis ball halfway through.

Well, one of us did, others had to rest after dragging themselves all the way out into the yard.

The Relentlessly Huge wanted me to show you his dumb elephant foot. It ballooned up again on Friday. I think he just wanted to go to the vet and get noms. The vet aspirated his gigantic leg and sent the juices away to the lab, otherwise known as the Mango foodables production line, I think.

You can see that by Sunday it was already shrunken down a bit thanks to the wonder of antibiotics.

Being a brave chap, I accompanied momma up to the observation tower to survey the damage.

OMG! I am adorable!

Hey! Bigfoot! We're up here! Neener, neener, neener.

I persuaded momma to go exploring once it stopped raining. Check out this tree right across the street from our estate. Bam!

Even though momma slept through the really bad parts (can't miss Sunday nap time), she still managed to make a bit of a movie. You can watch it here. I warn you. It is really long and she prattles on like she is Sally Weather Girl throughout. Somebody really likes the sound of her own voice.

We're sending all good thoughts from our estate to yours for those families who were not so fortunate as we in avoiding the worst of Irene.

Dexter done!

Hi Dexter, yes you are adorable for sure. Thanks for the Irene update and we are glad you only lost power. I hope Uncle Mango's big foot is not so big real soon. No worries, and love, Stella.

P.S. Mum said a Sunday arvo nap is essential and anyone interrupting should be locked in a small windowless room with Uncle Mango after he has had a bowl of curry and beans. xx

We think Sally Weather girl did an excellent job of reporting the storm! You guys have a Mango sized back yard. Very nice for Mango-sized zoomies.

And I would LOV for you to be a speaker at the BB club! I'm thinking a great topping for you to speak on is one that is near and dear to all Bostons - the fine art of tooting!

Loved the video. Mommy kept laughing at the part where Momma (ur I meant to say Sally Weather Girl) said Mango goes potty under the only tree in danger of losing branches. Wow from the observation tower, the Mango estate looks huge! You got a really nice estate! Dexter does look cute in the picture on the observation deck!

I'm glad the brunt of the hurricane missed you guys. Poor Mango. I've been really busy so I've missed a few posts . . . have they figured out what's causing the swelling or are they still trying to? I hope he feels better soon.

Hi Mango - hope you are doing ok! Sorry about your swollen foot - jeez, what a pain! My humans and I weathered the storm as best as we could, we lost power and still don't have it back yet. This makes for very grumpy humans in this house. We had 2 generators running and 5 other families that we had extension cords running to - it was a mad house! Me - I just took it easy and enjoyed dinner by candlelight :):) Glad you and Dexter are ok and hope you get power back very soon.

Your friend,
Indy Bones

Great weather report, Dexter! We gets wind and rain like that during our winters and we always like standing under the big trees that might lose a branch and bonk mom on the head!

PeeS. Not that we were looking for it but we may have seen somebuddy`s lipstick in the video...

Dexter, you are adogable, but confused... going to the vet to get a needle shoved ANYWHERE is NOT fun.

Glad the foot is shrinking and Irene wasn't too hard on your kingdom.

We enjoyed the movie. We had our coffee while watching. Glad there was not too much trouble at your Estate. We were worried about our East Coast friends. We chuckled at Mango's nonchalance and enjoyment of sitting in the rain. We could learn a lesson from him! Don't let a little wind, rain and potential destruction ruin your enjoyment of the moment!

Ok, jus wanted more of those yummy antibiotics, right?

Glad old Irene was too pooped to pawty once she reached you guys!

Glad you guys are ok. All the flooding on the East coast is incredible! People often fear the wind but it's the flood surge that's so dangerous.

So glad you all survived the weather and the the BIG dudes foot is shrinking again - maybe he's developed gout !!!

Ah yes, the silly moms. Ours would have been out videoing as well. But it was fun to see you both out in the rain. Nothing quite like soaking the furs in a warm rain. Glad nothing really bad happened there.

Now about that paw, c'mon Mango - what is going on? Hope the tests come back good, but it would be nice to know why it keeps swelling.

Hope the sun shines for you this week. It is freaking hot here again.

Wow Dex you really are full of yourself. You are cute though.
Mango I sure is glad your foot is getting back to normal. I sure am glad that the HurryCane did not damage your castle though and that your powers is back on. That Sally girl did talk a lot but I just watched the video, not many of you 2 in it.

You get lots of sleep now Mango, and Dex, you get lots of FRESH air!

woos, Tessa

We lost two 80' fall poplars and an ancient peach tree. The peach tree is the worst one to lose. We only got about 4" of rain, which is not much of a hurricane hereabouts.

Glad Mango Momma was able to sleep through it. Nothing should disturb a hardworking DOH's nap...just ask Mango.

Glad to see you and the estate are unscathed. We were also very lucky; we even kept our power, this time, although those around us were losing theirs.

RH, do doggies get gout? We don't actually know what that is, but mama says it's a painful affliction when the hu-apes get it. Does your elephant foot hurt at all? You seem to be walking with no noticable limp. Hope you get better soon.

Boy, Dex, you and Mango really looked stressed out during that storm! I'm glad that you guys were all okay and that the RH's foot is better.

Glad to hear you're all safe and sound! It seems like your house has to worry about a different kind of high winds when Mango is meditating...

You make me laugh, Dexter. Hysterical comment about how handsome you are (and you truly are!).

I hope that they culture the stuff from Mango's paw so that they know which antibiotic will kill every last bug.

Now, let RH meditate! I'm glad that you're all okay.

Nice video, and Sally Weather Girl might want to quit her day job and see if the Weather Channel is interested in her... Just saying... Mom was watching the rain thinking, "Gee, it would be nice if we had some of that," but if it DID rain here, then Mom would complain about us going crazy inside. No pleasing these crazy women.... Glad you all made it through just fine, and had nothing more serious than a little power outage!
