Mango Has Crossed Over the Rainbow Bridge

Mango Relentlessly Huge
May 4th 2005 - September 26, 2012

A little over an hour ago, I helped Mango to make his final journey.
Monday night he enjoyed a very bouncy and fun filled playtime with Dexter.
1 AM Tuesday morning, he was rushed to the ER in distress, but seemed to rally and came back home.
Tuesday he was not himself, but did enjoy some time in the sun and guarding the estate.
Tuesday night, his distress returned and he was once again at the ER.

Examination revealed a perforation in his intestines, a belly full of contaminated fluid, and blood that was growing weary of fighting infection.

His distress was great and the prognosis of a good outcome from surgery to repair his intestines and clean out infection was grim. I stroked his velvety face and whispered my love as he quietly departed this life.

His body has been donated to the Tufts School of Veterinary Medicine. His spirit is strong in my heart.

We are sorry it was time for Mango to make his journey. Thank you for being there with him. Our human has tears in her eyes and can't bear to think of your pain. But as dogs we know Mango was well loved and we ask for nothing more. We know Mango will be organising many events across the bridge. There are so many doggies for him to catch up with.
Blogland has so many wonderful, happy, funny memories of the Relentlessy Huge Mango.
We remember staying at the estate with Mango and how magnificent he looked in his kilt.

Dear Mango Momma,
I'm so shocked this morning, I couldn't believe what I read, my big brother Mango has crossed over the Rainbow Bridge!
More than 4 years, I have followed your steps everywhere. You made me laughed and laughed. Remember in one post you wore so many hats that made me deeply falling in love with you. Then in another post, your Momma shared the terribly sad news that you had seizure. My mommy wet her eyes all day, she asked us to pray for you.
Big brother Mango, you always were special to me. We shared the same name, DWB called us major Mango and minor Mango. I have always liked the name, I will keep it to remember you.
You'll not be forgotten, I love you and treasure our brotherhood forever!
Hugs and kisses to Momma, Dexter and family.

The handler beamed at me, "Yes this is Floyd." "I know Mango" I said, "I read his blog!" "Mango, Mango Mango!!" the hanlder replied.!" Why does everyone keep coming up to me and talking about Mango!" Oh Momma, I have tears in my eyes and a heavy heart as I think of the sadness you must be feeling. And by all the comments on here, there are many of us who's lives Mango touched. Because of him I've laughed so many times over, can't pass by anything with mango in it without thinking of him, and have expanded my vocabulary because of his wonderful "Magnoisms". Bless you Mango, no more pain, lots of walkies, even runs now, and reunions with old friends and family. {{hugs}} to Momma, Master, The Pea and all who knew him. Ann TBL

With tears in my eyes, I can only think, how lucky we all were to have "known" Mango in some capacity, be it literally or online. What a wonderful relentlessly huge soul -- is it any wonder it needed such a large package? And what wonderful fun we had -- dancing at the Rainbow Room and in the The Nutcracker for the Boston Ballet, traveling on safari with MaxDog in deepest Africa, wearing a kilt in Scotland -- and of course, terrorizing the Beast. So as I wipe my eyes, I replace the tears with a smile, which grows into a grin and even a chuckle. What an amazing dog we were all so fortunate to know through your magical writing and images Nancy. Yes, your loss is beyond painful right now, an ache in your heart that won't fill anytime soon. Yet Mango hasn't entirely left us. He's a click of a mouse away - running his agility course, snoring and farting up a storm, smiling that relentlessly huge, sometimes drooly smile of his. Thank you so much for sharing him with each of us. And thank you so much for donating his body to Tufts. Your generosity will save literally thousands of dogs, generations of dogs. There's a saying that I have been repeating many times lately "Don't cry because it's over, smile because it happened." And man oh man, did Mango ever "happen!"

Mango Man, oh yeah!

Oceans of love to you, Peewee and Master,

Jane and Petey
